Food was over priced and flavorless. Asked for spice on side and was charged extra. Funniest part their water wasn't even good. Would definitely not recommend.

This was my very first time here at this establishment.. I will say that when I got get they were not busy at all as time went on it did start to pick up not only did I notice that people who came in after us were getting their food before us in fact someone after us had ate and paid for their bill and left by the time we got our food. Now I have had cooked/fried sushi many times I also understand that the cucumber and other veggies and sauces that are in the sushi are cold but my sushi was completely cold and I was told that it was how it came and it comes cold .. Management comes and didn’t really help the situation just said they’ll take it off the bill .. Tbh not impressed at all and won’t return just based off the service..

Always a great place to go. It's slowly starting to decline in my opinion. Food portions are getting much smaller while prices are increasing. Quality/ flavor overall is still great, and the service is still very attentive. There was a staffing issue in the kitchen and sushi area but it didn't seem to affect our food or timeliness.Dietary restrictions: Caters to all dietary needs. Gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, and foodiesParking: Right out front, plenty of parking ( free public parking lot )Wheelchair accessibility: This establishment has wheelchair accessibility.

A romantic setting with great food, setting and ambiance. At Mandarin Spice you are greeted at the front door by a life sized Chinese Terracotta soldier statue. The restaurant is decorated throughout with similar impressive decorations. The food is superb. They offer dishes from throughout the Orient, including Japanese, Chinese, Singapore, Korea, etc. These include a long list of sushi, fried rice, noodles, soups, salads and other specialty dishes, like pad Thai and Korean Barbeque. In my opinion, the sushi is the best in Cedar Rapids, including raw, cooked and vegetarian rolls. If you like cooked sushi, check out the Monster Roll. It has tempura shrimp, cream cheese and crab. They're delicious. The appetizer combo is really good, too. It includes firecracker shrimp, egg rolls and cheese ragoons. They also, in my opinion, have the best fried rice dishes in town. They taste a lot like hibachi grill food. All of their dishes look and taste like they were cooked and plated by an expert chef. Also, Monday through Wednesday, they have half price sushi night.

Decor is great....Food was bland. No flavor. "Fried tofu" was soft as regular cooked tofu. Chicken entree was over cooked with no flavor, just drowned in sauce to try and save the dish. If you are seeking authentic Asian cuisine, do not go to this place. I never thought veggies could be undercooked and overcooked at the same time. Was not impressed and will not be coming back. Drove 50 minutes to come to this place based on a recommendation and it was a total waste of gas. Only great thing is the prices. Also, asked a staff member who brought the food out what type of dressing was on salad and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know" and just walked away. Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable when I asked her. So kudos to the wait staff, unfortunately, everything else is a bust.Dietary restrictions: If you do have allergies, you are able to notify the staff and they will let you know if they can accommodate the allergy to the dish. There are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options available.

The food and service were absolutely amazing. The serving sizes do need to be a lot bigger, especially for their price point. It is way less food for their prices. I've had better experiences with portions. If you don't mind smaller portions, this is the place. The food tastes phenomenal and their California rolls are fabulous.

A Maki roll, the Diamond Roll, was very good. Next time, I will order some yum yum sauce with it on the side. We had a party of 20 and the servers were outstanding.

Friendly service, love the atmosphere and the menu has great variety. The rack of shrimp appetizer is a great deal for the price & so tasty! The rice in 2 out of 3 rolls left a little to be desired in texture (pieces wouldn't keep shape & some fell apart), but the taste is so good that I can forgive it this one time issue.Try the clear soup! It's super flavorful!
