This lovely historic hotel is right on Main Street in Marshalltown, IA! It has ample parking behind Main Street -and a wonderful Tremont Grille next door with excellent service and tasty food! The owners were lovely people and they have made this place a haven for weary travelers! Tall ceilings, darling decor, and very comfortable bed! The bathroom was spacious and super clean! I recommend this place to stay to anyone who loves quality and historical buildings!!!!

without doubt, the best in marshalltown. a step above the typical diner - with great atmosphere, wonderful staff and a great menu. Please support this local business and help the main street businesses here and in other cities make a come back.

I traveled a lot - somewhere close to 2 million air miles when i retired. The tremont is at the top of my list for places to stay. The rooms are very nice and the staff are more than wonderful - but more importantly, this is a historic in a downtown in the midst of renewal. Some of the rooms are absolutely unbelievable large- but all are extremely large with great beds and not just another McRoom in a corporate hotel. The halls are filled with artwork from local artists. It is so nice to stay in a hotel that has this kind of connection to their city. This is the unique travel experience that i love - and will certainly go back if we ever are in the area again.

We stayed at the Tremont Inn again as it was a better deal than the chanes near the highway. JP and Jennifer did a wonderful job of making us feel welcomed and took care of the smallest detail. Be sure and have breakfast and dinner at their resturaunts.

We had an impromptu stay at the Tremont Inn after a delicious meal and great cocktails at the Tremont Grille. Highly recommend if you are passing through Marshalltown or need a little weekend getaway. Quaint, personalized service, and excellent food. Shout out to Travis and Michelle for a great experience!

Hands down the best restaurant in Marshalltown. If you're looking for excellent menu options prepared by a professional, well-trained staff, look no further. It's so refreshing to have a waitstaff that is knowledgeable about the food & drink menu, everyone was so friendly, the owner seems to stop by every table to say thank you & chat for a bit.

Great service! Excellent food! I had the John Denver omelet and a latte. Then got the same items to go for my girlfriend. Definitely recommend the place.

I was in town for work and my team decided to go out for a nice meal. We went to the Tremont on Main. I ordered a filet with mashed potatoes and vegetable, the house salad, lobster bisque, and pork egg rolls for an appetizer. The app was really good. Lobster bisque had good flavor, but the consensus from the table was that it was not hot enough when it came out. I thought it tasted more like crab than lobster for some reason. The vegetable was 2 pieces of asparagus on top of some mushy mixed veggies... not amazing but not bad. My filet confused me. I ordered it medium rare. It came out in 2 pieces, not butterflied but cut in half. I'm not sure why that was done when I ordered it med rare. it was very juicy and tasted fine, but it was not med rare. I would call it med-well or well done. there was no pink. Like I said, it was still very tender which confused me- maybe they tenderized it a lot? Either way, it was confusing. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal here. Best place in Marshalltown for a nice dinner.

Friendly, fast and the best burgers around! They have a great menu with a wonderful selection of hamburgers! Always greeted with a smile and my go place when I hit Marshalltown at lunch time! As I'm writing this review, the same friendly face that greeted me came over to make sure I was happy! I told him he gets 5 stars for a great restaurant!

A wonderful return to elegant dining! The historic Tremont Hotel dates from 1874, destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1904. Lovingly restored by JP Howard and his wife Jennifer, the location houses 2 restaurants, 2 different bars, and a hotel. I am reviewing the main dining room. Walking into the dining room was like going back to one the fine dining establishments of a bygone era. Elegant decor, not overdone. Subdued lighting but not dark. A wonderful bar and backbar. Just walking into the establishment made you want to order a cocktail.... not beer or wine (which are available of course!). Service was impeccable by experienced servers. My cocktail was served table side by the expert mixocologist. Wide selection of dinner choices, perfectly prepared. And yes, you must have dessert. What a pleasure to find such a fine dining experience! Highly recommended! For those of you not in MTown, it is worth the trip to Marshalltown to experience this wonderful place!

I have stayed here many times, and recommended it to others every time there is an opportunity. The staff, especially the owners, are concerned with making your stay as comfortable as possible and meeting your needs promptly, and anticipating most of them. The rooms are large and well-appointed and quiet! Having both a breakfast and lunch diner and an upscale restaurant and bar attached makes eating easy and hassle-free. One of the owners is the chef, and all the food is excellent and served in an atmosphere that adds to immeasurably to the experience. The best hotel and restaurant in Marshalltown!

We had an excellent meal - 4 of us ordered 5 meals to try specials - get the Lamb shank. Cocktails were special as John made us dry Manhattans - wine was priced right. Dessert was excellent. Leah our server was professional and prompt. Thank you Tremont, we will be back

The Tremont was a delicious surprise. The bone on pork chop was prepared perfectly. I am sure this is the best restaurant in Marshalltown Iowa. I also enjoyed a properly mixed martini delivered to my table by the bartender. The service was excellent, thank you Kendra! My only negative was the vegetables were over cooked. I would definitely stop here anytime I'm within 100 miles. Try this amazing restaurant and be prepared to be impressed.
