Small restaurant with great food and service. I ordered the hamburger of the month with smoked gouda and onion bacon jam. It was delicious.Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance has 2 cement steps before the door with no railing. The door is at a sharp angle and narrow.

I loved the small-town cafe feel. Palisades was clean and tidy. The staff was great. One waiter was covering a full house for Saturday lunch, and he did it quickly, efficiently and in a friendly manner. My salad was fresh, crisp and tasty and my husband's burger was sumptuous. The fries weren't the crispest but were hot and had really good flavor! We ate every one!Dessert was pomegranate bread pudding that had just the right amount of spice and melted in our mouths.

You can't go wrong here because there's something for everyone, from kids to mature gourmands. And it doesn't just offer typical cafe fare. Whether you are out for a casual lunch or a celebratory dinner, you can find something that hits the spot like a traditional burger or specials like osso bucco with risotto. Vegetarian options, too. Plenty of wine and craft cocktails to choose from. Very easy atmosphere.

Burgers and fries are always great the fries green beans are awesome also! But the waitress was not very friendly. I do understand it’s hard to find personable friendly staff these days! She then literally would not take my card from my hand, she insisted I put the card on the tray! I thought that was weird because she had to swipe my card anyway!?

A bunch of us ordered breakfast from Palisades Cafe this morning. We all tried each others orders, and they were all AMAZING!! I had the Eggs Benedict ( the hollandaise sauce was out of this world) it came with breakfast potatoes, the others had a Palisades Skillet, the Belgian Waffle (with strawberries, and their house-made whipped cream, and strawberry syrup), Classic Combo, and biscuits and gravy.I’m not usually a fan of breakfast potatoes but you have got to try these. I don’t know what they do to them but they were soooooo good. The Belgian Waffle was delicious, and that whipped cream was sooooooo delicious. I want to have another one right now.Let me just finish saying this is a much needed breakfast place we need in Mount Vernon, and you definitely won’t be disappointed. So GREAT!!!They have the best Burgers and House-Cut Fries in town, along with all the specials, and pretty much everything else on the menu, but now I can add breakfast also. Thanks Ben!!!!

Pork tenderloin sandwich with pear slaw was amazing. I love the tanginess of the pear slaw. Great twist on a classic. Onion rings were also good.

We stopped into our once favorite Mr. Vernon eatery for lunch. Sadly, the waiter told us they were not seating anyone else because they were short staffed. (Still one hour of serving time and empty tables. We had 3 in our party.). The unfortunate thing was that he was so rude to us. I know giving eager customers bad news is not easy. This was different. He just didn’t have the time for us and made that very clear. On the bright side, we discovered Bigs BBQ and will be giving that local owner our business going forward.

Nice servers, but very slow kitchen. You can see into the kitchen so their lack of urgency was evident and frustrating.Dietary restrictions: They said they had gluten free buns, but I was served a normal bun, and am very sick today (Celiac).

It took a while to get food but it was worth the wait. There's a nice variety of unique menu items. The burgers were very good. It's a little noisy when only half full. The server was just right.Vegetarian options: The evening's special was vegetarian and sounded really delicious.

Went in to have dinner at 7:30 . Slowly got a drink order. Only waitress on phone and drinking a soda. Left a half hour later.

Top quality food with a small town feel. By far the best burgers in Iowa.
