I did not expect to find this gem while driving through Iowa. Delicious, high quality, authentic food. Warm and friendly family running it. I will be stopping here on all future IA trips

Had always wanted to try Mateo Kitchen since it is the only Filipino restaurant around and was finally able to make it out there. We started with the tteokbkki and we couldn’t finish with how many there were! It was something new to try and I’m so glad I did, I will definitely be getting it again. I got the pancit malabon and it was juuuuust right. The noodles were thinner than what I thought, but with how many toppings there were I’m glad they were thin otherwise it would’ve been too much. Friend got the beef stew…that didn’t look like traditional stew?¿?¿ but she said it was phenomenal nonetheless. She also had the milk free honeydew boba tea that I’m jealous I didn’t get. I just love those lil boba pearls! I love that Siouxland has this restaurant to showcase the diversity we have. Can’t recommend it enough!

The food is ok. Just ok. Its pricey heres a situation and a little math. I asked for an over easy egg and was charged $2 for it! As of right now the average cost of a dozen eggs is $2.88 meaning .24 cents per egg. That's a mark up of over 800%! That's criminal I don't care about paying someone to cook something but that much of a mark up?! They won't get anymore of my money.

Stopped in with my daughter for lunch on the way back home from Sioux City. My daughter had the pork bbq and I had the pork belly. Both dishes were equally delicious and filling. Will definitely be back.

The barbequed pork with garlic rice was amazing. Even the veggies were cooked/seasoned to perfection. While there is seating, this isn't a typical sit-down restaurant. You order and pay for your food at the counter. The sizes are not overwhelming big, so you can order an appetizer without worrying about finishing your main course.

super expensive and very small portions very sad because i was excited to try filipino food and have to pay 15 dollars for a scoop of rice and scoop of korean beef and no drink just seems way overpriced.

To be honest, I was so disappointed with the food I ordered- steamed fish. One of my friends recommended me Mateo said I have to try it, it's so good, she and her family eat there pretty often. Due to on diet, I just ordered fish and it's steamed. But it's so so bitter... I have to say sorry my first time experience with Mateo was pretty bad. I am not sure I will try again. Probably not any more, just wanted to let you know what happened. Hopefully this won't happen again to other customers in the future.

Stopped at this cool little Filipino spot on our way through Iowa. Very friendly staff and food was good! Had the Korean bbq and tteyokboki, though I wish I had asked for it a little spicer. Was surprised to find they also serve boba tea, but found the Japanese cherry blossom was superb. Owners also gave great local recommendations to sight see and food to try. Overall very homey experience.
