I've been dragged to this place a few times by friends who think it's good. I'm reevaluating those friendships, lol. This is easily one of the worst restaurants in Des Moines. Onion rings were a greasy nasty mess.

Went here with friends, and we weren't disappointed. The food was great, and the server was very attentive. I will be back.

We were there 11/17/23 for dinner. The hostess was very poor with customer service. We wanted a booth and she says can't you take a table. She walks to a table, throws the menus on the table and walks away. Doesn't even wait for us to get to the table. The waitress was good!! The pizza was warm, not hot and hardly any meat. There's a big change, like someone new bought the place and only tried to cut service.Very disappointed!!!

Wasn't the best and wasn't the worst. Server was very busy. Spaced our onion rings but made it up to us. Pizza was ok. Been awhile since we have been there. Probably be awhile before we go back.

I called to place an order and asked if I could have the pizzas cut Chicago style or party cut. The waitress that took my phone order said "no I don't think so," and then covered the phone, while talking to someone else made a decision and said "we cannot do that." I said we have some children and my aunt who does not eat the crust. It's a waste of pizza. The last time I ordered they did. Why the inconsistency, some cooks will and some cooks will not cut the pizza in squares?? The waitress said in a rude tone, "we just don't do that." I said but you do. "Well it's not something we will do." I said what about what the customer wants. The waitress refused and said again "we won't."THAT IS LOUSY SERVICE AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Chuck Celsi, really you have a rule to refuse to cut pizza in squares??BARATTA'S RESTAURANT will always cut your pizza the way you want.Wheelchair accessibility: None. Very difficult to get in those 2 front doors because they are close together and the 2nd door opens in to the tiny area that your trying to get through. No way to access from the front with a person in a wheel chair.

If you are visiting Des Moines and want the food of traditional Des Moines I think most of us will point you to the tavern just an absolute legacy of a place and I had a Des Moines tradition baked cavetelli and it was delicious as always.

The Tavern in Valley Junction refused to issue separate checks for a group of people. Some couples, some singles. All retirees gathered to celebrate a visit from a retiree after RRDonnely shut down. Thankfully Jethroes would accommodate us. Group friendly on their website is total BS! They knew the group was coming.

We had a 10" thin crust with two toppings, cheese bread, and a side order of onion rings. The food and service was fantastic.
