Another great meal enjoyed at Maxie's this evening. We had attentive staff throughout evening, something that's sorely missing everywhere else. Our waitress was Jeanne. I asked for and they prepared for me special a Hot Pork Tenderloin Sandwich (toasted Texas toast slice, topped with a breaded pork tenderloin, covered with mashed potatoes and gravy.) I've had this elsewhere and this was very good here, the staff reported they were anxious to try one themselves! My husband had his favorite Steak deBurgo. They prepare the salad dressings on-site, all wonderful. Tonight I had a piece of freshly made Coconut Cake which reminded me of my Mom's. I've been coming to Maxie's for 40 years and would love to thank whomever recommended this to me in the first place as we otherwise would never have known of this treasured supper club. It was fun to see the place so busy on a Tuesday evening! Who needs chain restaurants when locally owned spots like this exist and do such a fine job with good food? We will be back again with friends and family along.

We've always wanted to try this place & with family in town, it was the best time! We called ahead of time, got a reservation & looked at the options. The menu is different than whats listed online, but we were all still able to find something. Arriving, parking was limited, but a nice quaint building. Inside was a little darker than excepted but very clean & nice. Many reviews of onion rings being the best, so we had to try them. I love shoestring onions & these were good! Not greasy or salty! Side mushrooms are always a must & these did not disappoint. The flavor was amazing & for only getting 3, they were a good size. Everyone in the group got something different & we all enjoyed the meal. Drinks were also good & pricing was reasonable. Our waitress was fun & I only take away a star as separate tickets was a complete mess. I wouldn't mind going back & trying more.

Maxie's was a staple in my family growing up. So excited they were able to find new owners. Maxie's brings back many memories of Jimmy and my father. My sister and her family and my boyfriend and I went went for dinner on a Friday night. We made a reservation. The place was mostly full when we got there. The menu contains a few classic "maxie" dishes. We all ended up ordering the prime rib. Everything was great. The meat was cooked to each of our requests. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. I'm so happy to know this "Des Moines" classic is still around.

Old school supper club, with a great lineage. We had shrimp and fettuccine, and citrus salmon. Both phenomenal. But then came the Coconut Cake. I forgot had forgotten how much I love Coconut. Plus the piece was the size of the Titanic's bow! Get going and get there!!

I asked how the orange was prepared and was told it was baked. Since it sounded delicious, I ordered it. When it came, it was something that was heavily breaded and deep fat fried. There was very little fish and what was there ras over done. The brusseline was very over done and looked disgusting. It should have never been served. I mentioned this to our server and he said oh! Sorry, and walked away. Very disappointing experience.

If you haven't been to Maxie's in a while, or ever, it's worth a visit! Delicious, traditional Italian/American food with an array of choices, making it all so hard to choose from. All entrees were served fast and fresh. Attentive wait staff but but not overbearing. Great soundtrack of music playing in the background. Throw back atmosphere reminiscent of dinner clubs of the 80's. You won't regret this little trip back In time.!
