My sister recommended we eat dinner here because they have "the best chicken." She wasn't joking! We had a rather large party, but the waitress was very friendly and accommodating, especially to the three young children in our party. I was immediately impressed with their drink menu, which featured a wide selection of local craft beers. Of course, we all had the chicken...and it was AMAZING! It truly was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had...not too much batter, not too little...but just right!

The chicken here is some of the best I’ve ever eaten! My friend and I stopped by after swimming. We were hungry but not enough for a full meal, so we split the popcorn chicken. Big chunks of white meat in a light coating arrived hot and fresh, and we each had a beer on tap. There were also lots of other tempting things on the menu. Service was quick and friendly. We sat outside on the large patio, but there is ample seating inside as well. Located on the Great Western Trail, so stop in if you’re riding your bike!

We stopped here for a diaper party this weekend and were impressed with the modern building and friendly service. We enjoyed our stay and the nachos from The Chicken across the street were also good. We would definitely go back again.

My family ate at The Chicken twice in the past 8 days, and both times it was great. One night I had the Nashville Hot Boneless Fried Chicken and the other I had the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos. The "bang bang" wasn't really noticeably hot, but it was delicious. I can't describe the specific thing that made it taste great, but some sort of creamy, soft flavor coupled with the shrimp made it very unique and something I will definitely order when I eat here again. The Nashville Hot Chicken was huge, super crispy, a great level of spice/heat in between 'hot' and 'mild' and overall flavor that was really good. Outdoor and lots of indoor seating, friendly servers and a nice hometown restaurant feel made this place inviting. It's also along one of the metro's main bike trails so there is lots of bike activity as well. Try this place if you haven't yet!

I've heard so much about this place and my wife & I finally got a chance to try it out. I'm so glad we did. The inside part is a fun, well decorated pub style place and the outside patio has quite a few tables with umbrellas. We got the Chicken & Waffles and my wife just loved it--the chicken was juicy & very flavorful, which isn't always the case in Iowa. The onion rings were really good as well--they were the thin sliced, freshly battered kind. We also had the grilled chicken, which was cooked to perfection--done but still juicy. There wasn't as much seasoning on the grilled chicken as I would have liked, but it was still good. Also had the sweet potato tater tots, which were just ok. They weren't crispy at all, more on the soft/mushy side. Portions were large so we had plenty to bring home. This is the kind of place we will bring some out of town guests to in the future.
Went for lunch and 35min later it came, now I had to get it to go! Ordered 7$ cheeseburger from lunch menu and played 10$. Waiter had disappeared and had to go back to work. Nothing like a cold cheeseburger and warm potato salad and provide my on utensils and condiments. Next time wendy's sounds better!!!!

Bartender is very unpoliet. Worst service in the state of Iowa! We were treated very rude! They treated special request like they were getting a root canal. Food is average at best. Our server was the only highlight. She was very professional and a credit to her craft. I would rather starve then go back there!

I enjoy every stop I've ever made to this place - ice cold drinks and good food. A disgruntled lady on here just left a nasty review. As an avid cyclist, I have never had an issue with this bar and the service has always been top notch. It's a sad world we live in when people let political views dictate reviews.

What does one expect when the name of the restaurant is "Chicken"? You're right - great chicken. There were four in our party. Two of us ordered chicken sandwiches and two order entrees. Each order was freshly cooked and delicious. The waitress very friendly. This was our first visit to the Chicken but not our last. We plan to return soon.
