“We love visiting The Candy Jar whenever we're in Blackfoot! My boys always get the candy building blocks. The fudge is top-notch. They also have Reed's Dairy ice cream! This is a must stop if you're driving though. There's even an art gallery. Great vibes. We'll be back again!“

“We stopped at the potato museum in Blackfoot, Idaho. This is a simple, smaller, low tech museum. It’s small town and charming, not big budget.I’m surprised it’s not larger given the impact of potatoes on the state of Idaho. Here’s what I recommend1. Take photos of the giant potato in front of the building. There’s a smart phone holder out front so you can take photos without someone holding the phone.2. Visit the gift shop, pay for your tickets and enjoy the kitzch (spelling?).From potato soap to quirky potato peelers, there are a lot of fun items. The t-shirts could be much more fun than they are.3. Watch the talking potatoes in the basement that put on a little show.4. Don’t miss the virtual reality experience. My favorite was the virtual reality ride on a ? harvester. There are just 2 headsets but worth the short ride.5. Watch the the short film about McDonald’s french fries. And see the large potato chip.6. Admire the potato masher display that’s artistic.7. Go to the cafe and order a potato, fries or soup. Notice the potato print curtains.Beast potato ever! You get it within 5 mins and it’s piping hot with the noise divine fluffy soft inside. The potatoes are cooked at 400-500 degrees (there was some debate). Wrapped in foil. Cooked until soft and keep in a warmer at 140 degrees.Russset narcoda is the kind of potato. Don’t poke holes in them.We got a cupcake made with potatoes. Really good. I added sour cream, green onions, butter and tomatoes. So delicious!! And the waffle fries were incredible - fresh and hot. You can get ketchup and/or fry sauce. It’s very affordable too. Both the admission ($6 for adults) and the cafe.Take lots of photos.Overall, this could have a photo backdrop with a large potato inside. Displays of largest record breaking potatos. Am interactive display. Better more recent videos about the process and better games. It could be in a larger space. But it’s affordable and down home. Also there’s a great candy shop across the street with excellent ice cream (bubble gum with gummy bears, for example).“
