Must eat at end of tour! Best potato I've ever had in my life.

We stopped at the potato museum in Blackfoot, Idaho. This is a simple, smaller, low tech museum. It’s small town and charming, not big budget.I’m surprised it’s not larger given the impact of potatoes on the state of Idaho. Here’s what I recommend1. Take photos of the giant potato in front of the building. There’s a smart phone holder out front so you can take photos without someone holding the phone.2. Visit the gift shop, pay for your tickets and enjoy the kitzch (spelling?).From potato soap to quirky potato peelers, there are a lot of fun items. The t-shirts could be much more fun than they are.3. Watch the talking potatoes in the basement that put on a little show.4. Don’t miss the virtual reality experience. My favorite was the virtual reality ride on a ? harvester. There are just 2 headsets but worth the short ride.5. Watch the the short film about McDonald’s french fries. And see the large potato chip.6. Admire the potato masher display that’s artistic.7. Go to the cafe and order a potato, fries or soup. Notice the potato print curtains.Beast potato ever! You get it within 5 mins and it’s piping hot with the noise divine fluffy soft inside. The potatoes are cooked at 400-500 degrees (there was some debate). Wrapped in foil. Cooked until soft and keep in a warmer at 140 degrees.Russset narcoda is the kind of potato. Don’t poke holes in them.We got a cupcake made with potatoes. Really good. I added sour cream, green onions, butter and tomatoes. So delicious!! And the waffle fries were incredible - fresh and hot. You can get ketchup and/or fry sauce. It’s very affordable too. Both the admission ($6 for adults) and the cafe.Take lots of photos.Overall, this could have a photo backdrop with a large potato inside. Displays of largest record breaking potatos. Am interactive display. Better more recent videos about the process and better games. It could be in a larger space. But it’s affordable and down home. Also there’s a great candy shop across the street with excellent ice cream (bubble gum with gummy bears, for example).

As a native Idahoan, I sent my friends here thinking it would be a good idea… and it was but they came from the museum with an artifact that I find offensive to my cultural upbringing… Fake Potatoes…The IDAHOAN potato brand has been making these abysmal packaged potatoes for years and unfortunately the potato museum is now distributing this garbage ?️ Throw it away! That is not the true idahoan way! Everything about the museum is great aside from this one horrendous action of giving out fake potatoes. Please start giving people the real stuff and stop supporting IDAHOAN brand, it’s fake! it’s gross! and should be gone!Thank you, for reading my review, please go but tell them what I have said here, this cannot go on!

This place is a self-aware descent into surrealist madness. It starts out front with a van-sized baked potato (which could just be enthusiastic americana), but then proceeds to a VR "experience of the wonders of potatoes" (starting to suspect they're in on the joke at this point), then a family of inflatable cartoon potatoes underground singing the Mexican Hat Dance with they lyrics "potato potato pota- To potato potato ....". So by the time you get to the potato themed comic books and short film essays, we're ready to laugh with, not at.

This museum is great. Very informative. They have videos that teach you things like how McDonalds makes their fries. Great collection of Mr Potato head toys and a wall of potato mashers. Definitely visit the cafe while you are there. We had the loaded baked potato, tots, hand cut fries with fry sauce and the best potato soup ever!! Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I'd be surprised if this wasn't the worlds best baked potato. It's a Norkotah Russet and it's simply amazing!

It was a mostly a good experience. lots of information on potatoes history in Idaho, some cool activities like a VR experience on a tractor, and a lot of potato memorabilia. I read all the stuff on the walls and did all the activities in about 20 minutes. Minus two stars because the price is a little much for what it is, and because the staff was rude. (The cafe prices were pretty good tho)

I had a lovely experience here on a random Friday afternoon. It was very interesting learning about potatoes. I was surprised on all there is to know about them. How they grow, harvest, transport, types, history, etc. At the end, they have a restaurant where you can dine in.I had a very lovely baked potato for lunch and a huckleberry flavored soda crafted in Jackson Hole. I bought a really nice cotton T-shirt from their gift shop.

For a potato museum. They really didn't know anything about potatoes lol.None of my answers, were answered!Answer one: "other than grocery stores. Where can I buy a bag of potatoes??" They had no clue.Answer 2: " Where is the nearest potato farm?" They didn't know? They told me to Google it.Answer 3: " who sells the biggest potatoes?:" They didn't know.Answer 4: " who sells the most potatoes?" Surprisingly no one knows. Lol.Answer five : "Where do you guys get the potatoes??" From a distributor they don't know who. ?No one there really even know anything about potatoes. For a potato museum. The price was $6 bucks. To high! with no tour guide. And such a small space. But the main reason I went there. To buy potatoes. And hoping to eat the world's best potatoes. Unfortunately, They only gave me six pieces of potato Dollars Lol! And a small amount of fries.Save your money. Just google everything! And go to the nearest restaurant. To eat a potato.

The Potato Station Cafe is attached to the potato museum. A perfect stop after learning the history and facts of the ID Spud, for a yummy potato treat. They serve baked potatoes, a variety of fry type options and even some random treat options like potato cupcakes! Once you choose what you want, you can choose to add a number of toppings. We ordered a selection of fries to share which were all fried to order. We were offered a variety of different dipping sauces to accompany them & loaded our bellies with some indulgent carbs. If I went back, I would order the tater tots again and I'd recommend their traditional fries to anyone who is new. These fries were sliced fresh and fried to order, which you don't get to experience everyday. The staff behind the counter were two young girls. They were full of joy, dancing to the music playing in the cafe, and fun to talk to. While it's a few miles off the path, you have to stop and get some ID potatoes for lunch while in ID. It's worth the experience!

Stopped here after visiting the potato museum. The baked potatoes are very good. There's a good variety of toppings to choose from. The fries are also very good. They're a nice golden brown, and we were offered either ranch or fry sauce. Service was fast and efficient. You can go here without paying for the museum. There's also a small outside area with tables to sit at. It's also right next train tracks which gives a nice view of any passing locomotive. It's a place that sells different types of potato foods. It's a nice little taste of the Idaho potato.

My expectations were pretty low, I mean it is a potato museum after all, but it was genuinely great. Apparently they redid the whole thing because a lot of the exhibits were brand new. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the Louvre but what kind of person are you if you drive through Idaho and don’t stop by the potato museum?
