Food takes a while but the food is decent. Though only after you order the spicy beef extra extra hot, since default isn’t spicy and extra hot is a minimum effort. But had two different appetizers as well and it’s all decent. Nothing to go out of your way for but worth a

There’s something I’m not used to here in the Gem State - Asian restaurants stepping out of their own cultural lanes to offer dishes of other countries. Each country has distinct flavors and textures. In this case, I’m pleased with the flavors of Dong Khanh. Historically, there were Chinese communities in Vietnam, so not a stretch of the imagination if Vietnamese restaurants tailored their menus to local Chinese customers. Here in Boise, it might also help a small business of over 16 years to have a broad and recognizable selection of dishes.Of the Chinese-themed dishes I had, I enjoyed the flavors – even more than at some local Chinese restaurants. Particularly, there is a touch of spiciness that is not added on as an afterthought – such as adding chili paste that has its own unique taste but may detract from the dish’s own flavor.I was surprised that rice and noodles took a backseat in how much space they took up on the plate. The rest was meat and generous servings of mixed vegetables. The beef and chicken seem to be cut thick. For texture, I would have preferred thinner cuts. The deep fried Chia Gio eggrolls were traditionally Vietnamese. This is good comfort food in a simple, diner-format restaurant. Very straightforward, satisfying dishes.

A random stop but was totally a surprise! Loved the Pho!! Simple but really tasty!! If I'm ever in town again, this is where I'm taking everyone!!!

A pho place near the Boise airport. They have booths and tables as seating options, and the parking lot is large but shared with other stores. The wait staff was friendly. I had the pho special which includes tripe; only one size is available. I found the flavor of broth to be tasty enough that I didn't need to add any sauces and I also thought the meat to noodle ratio was pretty even. The bun bo hue wasn't too spicy for me. If I return I would like to try some of the chef specials such as the bun cha or bun thit nuong. I was on a tight schedule to catch a flight so was glad that the service and food arrived quickly. Based on this experience I would return for another meal before a flight.

First time there. Wanted something warm and hearty without breaking the bank.Absolutely way better than I would've expected to be honest with how the place looks on the outside.I will be bringing friends and family back her and I'll be back myself plenty of times to try everything on the menu.

The best Vietnamese left in the valley. The only place with authentic cha gio, and everyone else makes theirs with spring roll wrappers. Their pho is also delicious and hubby got beef noodles he really enjoyed. Server was also great, and their garlic chili sauce is where it's at!

Food was DELICIOUS! Definitely a great hidden gem. The building itself is a little run down but it's a great little place for really good food.
