One of our favorite things is to find a " mom & pop" restaurant that cares about the entire experience and then nails the execution. At Cookbook, you are greeted by the owners, who seat you, answer your questions about their restaurant/menu, then take your order, etc. Tonight, this was followed by a great cup of sausage and kale soup, bison ragu with brocholini for me, squash bolognese for my wife, then the seven layer cake which we shared. All of these (except the cake) were piping hot and made with fresh produce and proteins. As for the cake, it was wonderful and the perfect way to end a perfect dining experience. The family atmosphere reminded me of meals I've had in small family run places in Ferringdon(outside London), Milan, Grenoble, Angier, Seville, Toledo, Madrid, and Augsburg, etc... Felt old school European, including the pride of ownership and the simple ingredients prepared well. If you find yourself in Sun Valley area, give this place a go, but might want to make a reservation as Cookbook is pretty small and filled up quickly tonight.Vegetarian options: Couple of options.

This place was dead at 5:30ish on a Saturday. We walked in looking for a quick bite to eat. The person greeting us at the door acted like we were an inconvenience asking if we had reservations.Plenty of tables were open and apparently the next reservation was at 6pm.The waitress was nice enough, but she seemed very disappointed that we only wanted a small pizza. We didn't order drinks, alcohol, deserts, or pasta. It's incredibly disappointing because the pizza was great. Would love to see how they'd do a New York Slice.Unfortunately, the experience was so disappointing I would never go back. I have no idea how well this place does during peak season, but seems they'd do a lot better if they didn't act like it was a two or three star Michelin place.

The service was fantastic, and Cookbook has a quaint, cosy atmosphere. Definitely make reservations and don't expect to no-show or cancel/reschedule at the last minute without getting charged - this is a small business and just how they operate, nothing wrong with that in my opinion. The salad (with pear slices and walnuts) was kind of bland, I wouldn't order it again. They had a parmesan truffle risotto special that was amazing. The spaghetti squash bolognese was 4/5 and the linguine with tomatoes and basil was 3.5/5. The Belgian chocolate cheesecake was really rich and any chocolate lover would be happy with it. Every cooked dish came out lukewarm which was disappointing. I'd consider going back to try other dishes but will probably choose somewhere else to go first.

The staff and food were top-notch! We were blown away by the delicious food, and how personable, accommodating & warm the owners and employees were! can’t wait to go back next time we are in Ketchum/Sun Valley.

Wow! ? I travel here often for work and sometimes struggle to find fresh, delicious food in relaxing atmosphere. I passed by this place earlier in the day and thought I’m just going to try it before I get called for work. I had homemade pasta with chicken and pesto, beet and pomegranate spread and more. Loved every bite! Thank you for setting high standards for your fare.. I know many people like myself appreciate it greatly especially when you aren’t home ?

We made a reservation and came in with our 3 kids. The service was great, everyone was kind and attentive but the food was just so bland. We ordered the caprese and the beet salad to start, the beets tasted canned and they absolutely were not fresh. the bread on the caprese tasted like stale toast and came with literally two slices of tomato. dry, no flavor. I ordered the grey goose pasta with the "house made pork sausage" the sausage was so burnt that when I bit into it, it was literally crispy and airy like popcorn and the pasta was actually worse then what I could have made for myself at home?! pizzas were fine, we ordered the cake and it was so bland I have no idea what flavor it was supposed to be. This was by FAR the most money we have ever spent on a meal and I am absolutely shocked by the prices they charge for the food they serve. Why?! I saw nothing about the food being organic or that the meat they serve being healthy. I mean our meal couldn't have been more average but that bill for what we got was WILD. Don't do it.

I ordinarily don't review a restaurant until I've been there three times. However, the service is extra ordinary! The food was divine, and our waiter was seriously the best I have ever had. The owner was our waiter and his wife is the cook.

I love everything about this restaurant. The incredible Ukrainian dumplings. The cute couple that run this place. The amazing pizzas. We were here visiting for a bike race and stumbled upon this place and had such a great experience. We loved it so much we’re coming back before we leave.

Highly recommended. Best dining experience I've had in Ketchum. Vita and Burke (the owners) are so friendly, conversational, and knowledgeable about every little detail of the menu (including the wine list). Cookbook boasts a comfortable, casual, welcoming ambience and fresh, delicious food made with quality ingredients.

I really don't understand how this restaurant has such high reviews. The food was really expensive for the portion sizes and honestly some of the worst pasta my husband and I have ever had. We were seated near a bunch of families instead of the more intimate two people tables, and the wait staff seemed to be more concerned about their "wealthier" clients. We will not be coming back to this restaurant.

We surprised my dad with tickets to a concert and dinner reservations at Cookbook. We were traveling from Boise and I knew I wanted to eat somewhere without bar food because that's all we have in the valley...anyways this place surpassed all expectations. The inside literally only has 7 tables. It feels like you're in someone's living/dining room. It's very quaint and cozy. They have cookbooks on bookshelves in every color of the rainbow. Our server (Matthew?) was a wealth of knowledge, engaging and patient. He had great recommendations based on what we were eying. Can I just say I also love the two black and white prints in the bathroom that show place settings in front of a gravestone? So unique. My family likes to share food so we can all get to taste multiple things. So, as recommend by our server we started with the Ukrainian dumplings. You must get these. The pork inside is so moist and yummy. We also got the beet salad and it was actually a 'beet' salad! For those that eat these regularly like me, I hate when your salad comes and it's all lettuce no beets. This is stacked with beets and apples in layers, pistachio ontop and goat cheese. I think there were even a few pepperchinis ontop which was oddly delicious. For main course we got a pizza, and two pastas. The pizza dough and sauce was very good. Texture of the crust was on point, thinner and the sauce was fresh. I would have went with different topping pizza but my family chose this so oh well. Overall it was good. The mushrooms ravs were my favorite. It was loaded with sage flavor which is making my mouth water writing this. If you like shrooms, just get it. We decided on the pesto for our final dish because the noodles are house made. Very good, but again would have went with the vodka pasta (same noodles) if it was just my choice. My mom and I got a Chardonnay that was incredible, not oaky. We are not big dessert eaters but our waiter described the owners homemade tart cherry cake "that is not sweet" and oh my goddd. The flavor was so good, how you make a cake so good without it being sweet. We would have stayed longer but felt we needed to get going as another reservation was waiting on our table. We will definitely be back again. I highly recommend this little gem, tucked right downtown.

Food was excellent, waiter was so sweet and the ambiance was a fun light and modern atmosphere. Highly recommend. The salads were so fresh and tasty, pasta to die for, and the desert was amazing! Forgot to ask what it was exactly. Will definitely be back! Gem of a restaurant
