Great restaurant at the Sun Valley Lodge. Great food and service. I had the Sea Bass, very good. My wife had the Salmon dish and loved it. The Green bean appetizer was excellent. We love the history and pictures of famous people who have been there. After dinner drinks in the lounge was perfect as well.

Wonderful dinner on our last night at SV Resort. I had the Idaho Ruby Red Trout and husband had the Chefs Cut. Both were delicious. Great service and wine recommendations. Reservations required.

Delicious food and excellent service. A little stuffy and expensive. We had fish and picahna which were both very good. The gratin green beans needed some spice but otherwise good.

Gretchen's is a great place for dinner and drinks when you have a large group or just your family. We actually ended up eating there twice over our stay in sun valley and were impressed every time. Service was accurate and timely as well as friendly. Staff were knowledgeable about choices. Will definitely go back!!!

Our waitress, Chloe, was particularly friendly and helpful, very pleasant. The staff never knew who ordered what so they put most dishes in the wrong places. The food was very tasty and in good portions for sharing on small plates. The acoustics are a bit loud but not as bad as most restaurants in town.

I get it, good help is hard to find, but you can't give customers a good experience when you churn the staff every season. We went in and asked if they were serving brunch. One server said "yes", the other "no." We left and the next day went earlier. Ordered chai latte, were told steamer didn't work. Served 1/4 of the cup with cold latte, no milk. Asked for a scramble. Didn't get green peppers requested. Asked for butter for English muffin, didn't happen. Asked for jelly, any flavor except strawberry and got .... strawberry. The list goes on. If you are going to charge $80 for 2 basic breakfasts, getting it right matters. Will not go back. Up your game! Hire a core, stable staff.

Great food and excellent service. We enjoyed ahi tuna with a cashew and vegetable mix, some pork appetizers, and local Idaho trout--all fabulous, with delicious side dishes, washed down with a great bottle of wine and some inventive after-dinner cocktails. Service was very attentive and we were very happy to be able to dine at Sun Valley Resort on a busy night--they made an effort to fit our party in, and it was greatly appreciated. It's a very convenient and tasty dining option right in the lodge. We'll be back!

We had an excellent dining experience at Gretchen's. The ruby trout was presented beautifully and seasoned to perfection. Everyone else at our table was delighted with their dinners.

Our food tasted great. I ordered the Curry Chicken and Apple Croissant (organic chicken breast, house curry, currants, $20.00) and it was phenomenal. The curry was well seasoned. The croissant was wonderfully buttery. It truly is a delicious recipe! My one complaint is that it’s rather messy. I couldn’t take a bite without half the inner goods spilling out. The coleslaw was mildly sweet and paired well with the croissant. My husband dined in the Rachel (black pepper roasted turkey breast, swiss, coleslaw, thousand island, sourdough, $21.00) and thought the bread was a little too greasy for his liking. He also found the sandwich difficult to eat without it falling apart. Nonetheless, it’s a great sandwich with plenty of fresh ingredients and yummy tastes. The side of chips he chose were addicting! Our bartender and waiter were super friendly, patient and informative. The drinks came out fast and full every time. We visited around 2:00-3:30 so the restaurant wasn’t very crowded. The seats at the tables were very comfortable.Parking: Free parking at lodge but can be a rather far walk if you’re not staying at the resort

The food is fine. The problem is seating. Twice in the last couple of months we were the first table seated for dinner. With one other table seated else in the restaurant they sat someone so close to use we could have been part of their conversation. There was bo reason for this except laziness. when I asked management the response was we seat by section and saw no problem. We are talking about a place with only three tables taken and they sat someone next to us. BTW there were only two tables seated by the time we had left so it was not an over crowded reservation problem Will not be going back

We love visiting Gretchen's. Glad to see they're now on Open Table. The one thing I'd like to see is them changing their menu a bit more seasonally. It's been basically the same for years now.

Ate at Gretchen's while staying at Sun Valley Inn. Had dinner with a couple of friends. Found the food to be rather good and, the ambiance is all it should be and then some. The service was superb. The menu is somewhat limited. Due to location and varying demand during the seasons. The prices are quite high. But, anything in the Sun Valley Village is. It is a first class, high demand resort after all. And rather isolated from the rest of the world in a beautiful part of a world renowned, ski resort.

Ordered after 30 minutes waited for 45 minutes while other people who arrived after us got their food, ate, and left. Food came and order was wrong. They were impatient and said they would send it back. By that point we just left.
