Honestly this is the worst restaurant in Algonquin. Clear your schedule for the day because you're going to wait hours for cold food that is literally prepared the exact opposite of how you ordered it. It's like a gender reveal party when you open the bag of food because you have no idea what you're going to get. Don't be fooled by any review leaving more than 1 star, they're lying to you and lying to themselves. Portillo's you ruined my day for the last time.

We placed our order at 8:56, according to our receipt. The inside of the restaurant was slow; However, we knew the drive through was fairly busy, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt when considering our waiting time. Around 9:20 ish we looked at the clock and realized it had been 25 minutes and we still had no food. My husband went up to the counter and was requesting assistance; However, the only kid standing at the counter was talking to a couple of his friends, rather than working. My husband and I both noticed that the staff, not just the one at the counter, but the majority of them, wanted to stand around and talk, rather than work. Around 9:25 we were finally able to receive some assistance, but we were told that they did not have the order and would have to remake the ticket. After waiting over 30 minutes for our food, we were finally given our order. The burger and hot dog were fine; However, the fries were cold and soggy. We have never been more disappointed in an experience at Portillo's than we were tonight.

Best employee award goes to Candace and Bob! They're both amazing and made dining in a blast. They're extremely kind and interactive. Food was fresh. Recommend.

Please Portillos I am begging you to RETRAIN YOUR STAFF. We have eaten here 5 times now and EVERY time our order has been wrong. Most recently I went through the drive thru and order a chocolate cake shake and received a vanilla shake with some cake in it. I went inside to have it remade, after the employee argued with me because I didn’t know the ticket # on my car they agreed to remake it.. except they made it WRONG AGAIN and gave me a vanilla shake. We live 5 minutes away and will not be coming back.

This is by far the worst location in the Portillo's chain. So disappointing.The prices have gone up dramatically. The meat content in my Italian Beef Sandwich noticeably declined. The onion rings were overcooked. My order was messed up. Had to wait 15 minutes past promise time for order fulfillment.Buona's is up the street. Will go there instead.
First time trying the new Algonquin Portillos. Great food and atmosphere, and my Maxwell polish and Cake Shake were fantastic. Will be back in the

I’ve been to this location when they first opened and just the other day. I will not go again as the beef sandwiches hardly have any beef on them and the croissants are not very croissanty. I will drive to Elgin as they are much better.
