My partner and I have gotten our catfish and shrimp here several times. The food is always fresh and GOOD! The customer service is always good and the food is cooked only after you place your order . THE CATFISH COMES SECOND TO NONE !!! J & J fish and Sharks CAN'T COMPARE TO THE PRODUCT THE SEAFOOD COMPANY PUT OUT !!! I've made the comparisons !!! Side note ....they still have good fries instead of those junk fries that a lot of fast food places are selling !!!

Yesterday was my first time dropping in. I picked up some takeout and could not have been more impressed. The woman behind the counter was really nice, explaining different options on the menu. Because everything is made fresh, there was a short wait. When I got home, my Po' Boy sandwich & fries were both very hot and seasoned just right. I will definitely go back.

Let's talk about the sticker shock you can get by using an outdated menu seen on Yelp. I'd been trying to convince my wife to give this seafood place a try for weeks, if not months. Having a taste for some fish, but wanting to get away from the usual fried offerings of J&J's and Sharks , I selected this location based on some outdated information I'd read on Yelp, since it was relatively close to our shopping vicinity at the time. We called ahead to place our order in route there. We decided on a large fried catfish fillet for my wife while I opted for what I thought would be a healthier grilled blackened version with a side of mixed veggies instead of the usual fries. Being first-timers and realizing that the posted menu wasn't current, my wife tried to get a clear understanding of what it would cost as she compared items offered on the menu. The person taking our order over the phone was on the borderline of rudeness determined to be clear on we wanted without allowing my wife to interrupt with her questions concerning the price of what we were getting , (e.g., lemon pepper, hot, mild, or tartar sauce, ketchup on the fries, etcetera.) It was like listening to a conversation battle at the UN between two opposing countries with communication issues - $4 more for veggies vs. fries, grilled vs. fried? Really? When it was all over, we were $40 out of pocket, way over our expected normal budget - $15 for hers and $19 for mine plus tax. The last time I ordered from J& J's , I spent about $27 altogether for a large 3 piece cat fillet and a small jumbo shrimp, all with fries, sauce, bread, and cole slaw. I discovered too late that we could have received 10% off our order purchase, about enough to cover the tax charged. To add more insult, the mixed veggies consisted mostly of broccoli and some cut carrots. I was expecting a mixed vegetable medley like what you would find in a bag of frozen vegetables at the grocery store. Being on blood thinners, my diet has restrictions. Items such as cranberries, grapefruit, beets, broccoli and other assorted leafy greens are a dietary No-no for me, so to my disappointment, I couldn't have them. I had hoped that the choice of sauces would've brought some redemption to this meal, but it didn't. Nothing arousing about cheating with a cup of tasty cole slaw, also prohibited due to the cabbage. I found nothing outstanding about this adventure, just time and money wasted. Sometimes it's best to just stick to what you know despite the temptation to switch it up or spice it up a little. Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. Lessons learned.

Fabulous Black-owned business. I'm from out of town but went with the family to get some fish. Majority of my relatives had fried catfish filets with fries. They couldn't stop talking about how tasty the fish was and how perfectly it was cooked. I had the grilled salmon burger and fries. Burger came with tarter sauce, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Unfortunately, burger tasted like it was a preformed frozen burger, instead of fresh made salmon filet. I wish it had been the latter. A relative in grammar school has the fried jumbo shrimp and fries. Again, he talked about how good the food was. Consensus is that I messed up when I chose a menu item that was NOT fried. It seems that fried seafood is the speciality of this establishment. I'd be open to trying it again and trying some of the friend items on the menu. If you're in the mood for friend seafood, I'd definitely try this place.

Food was good, but poor customer service ruined the experience. We found this place while searching for take out seafood in Crestwood. Hours advertised to 8pm, it was about 7:15pm and the reviews were great so we stopped by. Inside was as posted, modest size with a few tables. We approached the counter and said it was our first time and we asked for suggestions. The counter clerk, older short haired woman, pointed to the menu and asked for our order. Having read reviews we chose the $29 special jumbo fried shrimp. We also ordered other items including 2 lemonades. Our order totaled $104, food was prepared to order, bagged and as we prepared to leave a gentleman from the kitchen told the counter clerk she forgot to bag one of our orders. The clerk took the box and shoved it in the bag we had in our hands. No apologies. She then came around the counter followed us to the door saying loudly to no one (place was empty) it was time to wipe the tables, specifically, the one we sat at while waiting for our order. Completing the experience, she then proceeded to immediately lock the door AND turn off the lights! It was 7:47pm and they didn't close for 10 more minutes! Hearing the decisive click of the lock, just behind us, seeing the lights go out immediately, and the early closure on a Friday night completed the impression, customers are not welcome. We've supported restaurants, and small businesses throughout the pandemic, and will continue to do so, we are foodies who enjoy a good food and restaurant experiences and I was shocked to be treated so rudely by this establishment where we spent good money. No worries, we won't be back!

My first time visiting. I came by way of Groupon Purchase, so let me start there. The Groupon gives you $20 worth of food for 2 adults - that is impossible here. The cheapest item I could find was the $13.99 Po'Boy sandwich, so I ordered that and a lemonade and still owed a balance with the voucher and this was before I could add the next items for the other adult. The portions received were good as far as fries and catfish sandwich but the sandwich was messy. Literally picked it up and it was soggy with toppings falling everywhere; equivalent to how Burger King serves it up, if you ever experienced that. Fries were good, I suggest you add seasonings or sauce, kinda bland without. Small sized lemonades, good but not worth the price being charged; especially if you can grab one less than half a block away at Sonics for same price and double the portion. Not bad of a wait time for a Friday night. Clean establishment inside and out. Friendly cashier --messed up my order twice, but he was nice about his error which i can appreciate. As far as a the Groupon, waste of money when you consider the amount I paid for the original GROUPON plus still owing because 2 adults cant eat for $20 -misleading.

Mediocre po boy sandwich , low quality/ meatless wings, oK lemonade but not fresh!A very long 20 min wait time!please save your $45 and go to a Korean fried chicken place for best options.

Ordered and was charged for 1 pound of garlic shrimp and barely got over half a pound. Food scales don’t lie. $27 for this???? Never again.

This visit was probably my fifth time and each time has been a good experience. The food is always prepared fresh and tastes great and the customer service is excellent. If it were closer to where I live, I'd definitely eat here more often.

The food here is outstanding. The best seafood I’ve tasted and that’s a lot to say because I’m from the east coast. The customer service was top notch. This place have a very warm and inviting vibe. Definitely will be back.

This is an excellent black owned business with amazing customer service. With that being said the food here is even better than the amazing customer service. This is some of the best food I've ever ate in my life, and I can eat lol You must come out and support our black businesses and get you some of this incredible food. God bless this business and their family.

Anytime I try to call and make an order, I always get a voicemail about the store closing at 5pm on November 24th. Today is November 30th. The times are inconsistent and don't match what's online. The owner doesn’t have time to pick up the phone to place an order but has all day to respond to google reviews and justify why he can’t do a better job running his business.
