The Luxie Club Friday night fish fry was fabulous! This is truest an old school social club, with a friendly relaxed environment My wife and I both had the battered walleye; The fillets were large, with delicious crispy batter on the outside and juicy flaky meat on the inside.. They serve some of the best onion rings and fried mushrooms I think I've ever had.

We LOVE this place for the same reason we love Wisconsin supper clubs. No-nonsense, no frills, no B.S.! Just good food, good drinks, pleasant people and what the hell else do you need? Went there for the Friday Fish-Fry. EZ Parking. The place is vintage (that means OLD with CHARM)-The room is warm and intimate-yes you might have folks you dont know sitting with you at community tables. Not to worry--everyone is nice here! There's a long bar, with EXPERT Bartenders on duty. Nawt on tap, but they are better stocked than you might imagine--beers AND booze. Don't freak out when you find out the prices-they are as old-school as the surroundings! (meaning VERY VERY reasonable). Get your drinks and find a seat. In the southwest corner of the room, there's a small table where you'll place your order-check the brief menus on the table first. There's a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card. Don't whine-the prices for dinner are SO reasonable, if you order the MOST expensive thing on the menu at $15 your surcharge will be 45¢. Make sure you remember your table number (each table has a prominent card on it). A runner will bring your food out to you. Make sure you leave a generous tip in the jar on the ordering table These are plate dinners, no ala carte. You'll get coleslaw and a roll with your plate. Paper plates, napkins and plastic utensils on the table. You'll get Tartar sauce or Cocktail Sauce with your dinner plate per your order. There are Appetizers available--I had the mushrooms, and they were, without a doubt, the BEST breaded 'shrooms EVER! With excellent Ranch dressing. The friends we were with, (regulars who hipped us to this place in the first place) say the Fries and Onion Rings are fab, too. Next time, we get the Mozz Sticks--if they are as good as the 'Shrooms...YUM! Wife had the Breaded Jumbo Shrimps 5 to an order. She's admittedly finicky about her Shrimp, and these passed her palate with flying colors. You can order extra shrimps at $3 per if you please. STILL reasonable. I swung with the Breaded Walleye-Absolutely fabulous! Great Tartar sauce. We both had Baked Potatoes, and THEY were fab! Plenty of Butter on the tables, and you get sour cream on your plate. No desserts-Go to the bar and get something sweet!! The entire experience is "home-y" and most pleasant. Didn't think I'd ever get to go to an old-school "fraternal club" thing like this again--but here it is! Don't know if the general public is welcome on other days than the Friday Fish Fry, but it was so nice there, we're thinking of becoming members-apparently you dont need to be Luxembourgian to join. We've been to enough posh joints, with a bruised and bloodied AMEX card to show for it--It is SO refreshing to go to a place with incredibly great vibes, delicious food, a shockingly fine bar, and ridiculously reasonable prices. Slow your roll, dress casual, and patronize this place for an EXCELLENT seafood feed on a Friday night...

Love this place. Best food in town for the beat price. The members are always willing to go the extra mile for each other. Best Social Club in Aurora.

Right next to the train tracks on High St. is another super local Aurora social club that you've probably driven by 1,000 times and had no idea it was there. Luxie's is in the basement of the American Luxemberger Club, you enter through the front of the building facing High St, but instead of going up the stairs you sort of walk around and go under them. Luxie's is also open to the public for most (all?) of their food specials, so you can get a feel for the club before becoming a member. HOW TO JOIN: The best way is to show up when there's a food special going, which I've attached to the Yelp page as images which were lifted from their Facebook page. Every day but most Sundays they serve a specific food special from 5-8 PM. You just ring the buzzer, and they'll let you in. From there, you basically just ask the bartender if you can join and pay $50. Two people need to sign for you, but like most of these clubs, if you're a friendly person you can usually get the bartender and someone else sitting at the bar to sign without much fuss. FOOD AND DRINK: As mentioned, there isn't much (or, really, any) variety to what you can order on specific days, but the food is top-tier. On Mondays they have 50 cent wings, Tuesday is $5 burgers and fries, Wednesday is pizza, Thurday is Italian beef and fries, Friday is a fish fry, and Saturday is pizza again. The wings are incredible. They're HUGE for 50 cents. We were able to order wings for two and beers for less than I pay for just my entree at Buffalo Wild Wings. There isn't beer on tap here, but they have a ton of very cheap bottles (including stuff you don't see all the time like Rolling Rock) and a full bar. There's also drink specials throughout the week where various things are cheaper. EVENTS: Typical sports and holiday events, there's something going on for all the local sports games and of course Super Bowl parties and other things along those lines. Per their Facebook page they're also looking into getting a Bingo license, so it'll be interesting to see what comes of that. They're super active on Facebook, making it real easy to find what's going on. Just search for "Luxies Club". GAMBLING: Luxie's does a lot of stuff, they've got the machines like everyone else but (as far as I know) are the only club in the area that does Queen of Hearts for members only. (AmVets on Jericho also does it, but that's a lot farther.) Additionally, it seems like there's a decent amount of raffles for big ticket items, like for the Super Bowl they're raffling off a huge TV. Oh, and they have poker tournaments. CLUB FACILITIES: Luxie's is a small basement club without many frills, there's a bunch of places to sit at tables, a bar, TVs facing every direction, and a pool table. The building itself has a large upstairs area, although I've never been there when it has been use. It's managed by Premiere Banquets and I'm not sure how that's related to Luxie's. WHY WE LIKE IT: Great vibes, great food, and rock bottom pricing. It's weirdly cozy for being in a basement, and everyone we've talked to there has been ultra friendly. Even with drinks, it's hard to cook at home and have it be cheaper than eating at Luxie's. These local social clubs sort of completely break your ability to go any "normal" restaurant or bar where beers cost $10 instead of around $2, and entrees are $15 instead of around $5.

This place is simply hardcore...A members only social club. I made a "guest" appearance on a Saturday afternoon. The Luxie is bazaar as it's located in the basement of the original Hall Building. This is a unique vintage bar...not a dive. Believe me, I received a history lesson by friendly folks that are eager to tell a story of the oldest place of it's kind in Aurora, about 100 years. That was easy, all I had to do was listen. This place knows how to get to the point...friendly Old School environment offering a no nonsense, no compromise "Eatin' and Drinking" experience. It's true...the only true currency in this world is your time and an occasional Andrew Jackson.
