Passing through and found this awesome place. Had the country omelet and wife had banana oatmeal. Fantastic! And their homemade hot sauce was so good I bought 2 bottles.
The owner Crisco has a beautiful soul. Great food!

Have eaten here several times, always been good. Not yesterday waitress dropped off food and never seen her again until we were standing in line to pay our bill. Witch she promptly ran over and gave to us and told her to have a great day.Too bad I was liking this place.

I've ordered from this place multiple times, I love the food most days(It depends on timing and who's cooking). Really my only issue with this place is that there are menu items that are blatant rip offs. Say you want a chicken and waffle plate. That's about 20 bucks for a chicken strip and a waffle. Problem is I can get a chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast for the same price. Their specialty pancakes are delicious, but you get exactly *one* pancake with toppings for around 15 bucks and no sides or anything. It's like... why would I order that?

So today was my first time trying Sunny Street Cafe. I’ve ordered it for someone else before and had only tried the home fries. Which were ok. So I ordered the chicken and waffles. I was already pretty skeptical on getting this due to hearing that they don’t season their food. For lack of better judgement, I decided to give it a try. The waffle itself was a 3 out of ten. It could’ve been better but had potential to be worse. On to the chicken. Where do I start..? Long story short, it was the blandest piece of chicken I have ever ate in my life. There was not a piece of love that went into preparing this. I can tell that they literally cut an unseasoned chicken breast in half, and dipped it in the bland batter they use and fried it. I would not recommend this dish to anyone. I took one bite and threw the entire chicken breast away and gave the waffle to my child. If you’re a fan of mediocre tasteless food than this is the spot for you.

Restaurant staff were stellar! Friendly and attentive service always making sure any needs were met during entire dining experience. Food was plentiful giving great value for price. Quality was top notch with presentation looking great, and fresh tasting ingredients. One of best restaurants in Carbondale!
