asking for a simple substitution for my drink in order to make it less sweet, however getting told that they weren’t allowed to do so. i’ve done this many times at the other location in chicago and had no problem with it. the young asian male worker with a nose piercing told me that he was the boss of this store when i asked him for the reason why, which i found it hard to believe.

This soft opening is really way too soft. None of the staff are trained at all. The persons who make drinks don’t know the recipe at all. They are constantly check on the phones when making drink. We ordered fresh tea and are given a complete slushes. We ordered a smoothies and it comes with lots of ice pieces which are not crushed at all. The wait is long cuz the person who is at the counter has different issues with the payment, ordering and handling the drinks. We tried happy lemon in other cities and this soft opening is definitely a disaster. I would rather they stay closed for a while until a ready version of soft opening is ready instead of getting money from customers while making them 100% disappointed._______________________It seems like they’ve got help from someone is more experienced and the speed of making a drink and the quality are improved substantially.——————————————-They are definitely improved.

I'm giving it 2 stars because I don't think it deserves a downgrade of 1 star when I only went once and had bubble tea. What I will say is this place was not welcoming at all, and the lack of helpfulness by the worker at the register made it difficult to order. Despite having no other customers, the worker appeared annoyed to have to answer any questions. I wanted a green tea with no sweetener, fresh fruit and boba. The worker said the only fresh fruit they have is strawberries, the mangos come in a syrup. I asked if I could switch the lychee out in my drink for boba, answer was no. There were no options for amount of ice but it was below freezing when I went and he filled my cup with ice (which I would have rather not had any). My boba was undercooked so when I bit into it, it was powdery in the middle. My "fresh" strawberries were not fresh, and he blended them in my drink (I'm used to having them finely diced or muddled). Tiny shop, not friendly or helpful, and really not good in my opinion. There are plenty other boba tea shops in town.

I ordered a Purple Taro Milk Tea with Boba and Salted Cheese. I literally love it! The cheese was at the bottom, so it was really amazing at the first several sips. The price was reasonable as well. The shop was small but clean and neat inside. It would be a good place to get a cup of milk tea on campus, but I guess it will be full of people waiting in line during spring or fall semester.

Yay! Happy lemon has really improves since their soft opening. Their drinks were good during their soft opening and they have done well to improve their service. Once everybody was trained and they have some more people, everything moves along quickly now. I would recommend it as the best boba shop on campus now!!!

Happy lemon has definitely improved from earlier reviews, our drinks came out quick in about 5 minutes and our waffle was done 12 minutes after ordering. everything was delicious!

Staff is totally untrained, service is slow, machines seem to have issues. Double charged my card , and no one knows how to fix the issue. Was told manager would fix and contact me . Here we are 24 hours later still no contact.

Space a little too small for me. Soft opening was not organized. They're definitely better these days. Drinks are better than other places on campus, and I really like their bubble waffles. These other reviews are kind of harsh/dumb. People lined up and ordered knowing that there was a big wait. Lesson is: please use your eyes and brain before ordering.

Ridiculously slow. Wait for over 50 min. Just like every comment below it’s not bc there are many people or something. It takes them an average 3~4min to make ONE drink. Isn’t that ridiculous. Should just shut down

I would try this place if you have nowhere to be for a while and are ok waiting about 45 min for an item:the place is super cute and has a very fun vibe to it but I arrived at the location and waited over 20 minutes to be acknowledged by staff despite being first in line. By the time I was asked if I was ordering it was too late (due to a personal time constraint) and I had to wait with my friends for their existing orders so we could get home faster, leaving me without a waffle. Luckily my friends let me try theirs. Both were good - the chocolate waffle would benefit from some chocolate chips! I wish this business success as they navigate fulfilling orders but recommend more staff or equipment to meet the demand of campus.

Real talk this place is way too hot inside and takes way too long to get you your drink. I waited over an hour for a drink that did not taste good. Save yourself some time and money and get boba literally anywhere else. The waffle was okay

Too hot inside, waited over an hour for a 6 dollar drink, drink came out bitter even though it was ordered sweet. Save your time and money and just go to Kung Fu Tea…or anywhere else for that matter.

Came here during their soft opening for this new location. I got the kumquat lemon green tea and it was just as I remember from other locations. The drink was a little pricey (upwards of $6.50 with no toppings) but the size made up for the price. The interior decorations are cute and clean. It was their soft opening, so there was quite a lot of customers and people waiting for drinks. I waited 25 minutes for the drink, but I believe it's just a matter of time before they get used to opening and wait times will hopefully go down. I will definitely still come back to visit and support this new boba shop, and update this review as I go!

Went during the soft opening of this franchise. Generally disappointed by the performance of staff and the drink I ordered. Had to wait over one hour for my drink only to discover that it was not made properly. Staff should have informed customers that wait times exceeded one hour to not cause confusion. I know that this was a soft launch so I would recommend visiting when they have their planning and organisation put together properly.
