Great food (wife and I had a sandwich and burger), they were both excellent! My wife said her sandwich may be the best she's had since we moved to Illinois 9 years ago!

Food was good, but overpriced, imo. Make sure to check your order before you leave, side was left out of mine.

Cuban was great. Not $17 great. But great. Fresh rye bread was great also. Not $8 a loaf great. But great. No prices on the menu for sandwiches so the sticker shock caught me off guard. Will not be returning until I get a better job. And I have a good job.

The Reuben sandwich was amazing!!

Meh. Ordered a Ruben. For $18.95, I was expecting an Earth-shattering, mouth-watering, delicious sandwich. The corn beef was bland. The rye bread barely tasted like rye bread. This sandwich doesn't make my top 10.Also ordered the Yukon-Gold potato salad. The potatoes are too large would be better if they were cut into smaller pieces. The vinegar needs to be cut with a little bit of sugar. Not the best potato, but not the worst. The lemon-drop cookie was too dry. Fair lemon flavor, though.Would I go back to Martinelli's? Nope.

I had the turkey rueben. It was a really good sandwich. The rye was mild but flavorful and perfectly toasted. The coleslaw wasn't too sweet and the turkey was super delicious. My only complaint is it was $19. If it was a big city maybe but a $20 deli sandwich (no side unless you count a single pickle slice) in Champaign is overpriced. All that said, it was a really good sandwich. The baked good we had were good and more reasonably priced.

Very nice deli with many options. I ordered the Italian sandwich. Bread and meat were great but way too much Italian vinaigrette, it was overpowering. I will try something else next time.

We stopped in today for lunch for the 1st time. Walking in we were very impressed with the cleanliness, and had trouble choosing what to eat on the menu because everything sounded so good. We decided on the Rueben and the Tuna Melt. The sandwiches are pricey $18+ for the Rueben and $12+ for the Tuna Melt. You get a pickle spear with your sandwich. They have complimentary water you can get but the cups are so absolutely small we had to get a couple to have with our meal. The sandwiches came out and they LOOKED amazing! Bread was perfectly toasted. We had high hope. The Rueben was impossible to bite through. The cornbeef was so dry and tough! We had to use a fork and knife to cut bite size pieces to eat. After struggling to chew the tough meat, we gave up and finished less than half the sandwich. The tuna melt also came out looking delicious. The bread was toasted perfectly and the cheese was melted. However the tuna itself was Ice cold! Never heard of a tuna melt made by toasting the bread and putting a scoop of cold tuna inside. The tuna salad also was VERY wet. It made such a mess trying to eat it. There wasn’t much flavor to the tuna salad so I added some pepper to help it be less bland. We also got a bag of mozzarella bites (garlic and dill flavored) the flavor was nice but the cheese was not very fresh and it too was pretty dry. Overall the food was disappointing and not worth the price we paid. We will continue checking out other lunch spots. We do not recommend Martinellis Market bakery and deli.

The food is fine and the place is cute. It is very expensive. Too expensive. My basic turkey sandwich was $22 and it was $90 for our family of four. It also bugged me that they put the pickles and sandwiches on top of the printed receipt, which is sort of gross. You also have to bus your own table, which I wouldn't expect for a $22 sandwich. I wouldn't eat here again based on price alone.

They have wonderful baked goods and sweet treats along with a full menu and lots of snacks, spices, etc for sale. They use and sell bread and baked goods from Central Illinois Bakehouse which is also used by their sister restaurant The Literary.

Im from Wisconsin down here for work and a coworker recommended this restaurant for lunch. The interior and exterior as decorated and designed extremely well. The service was great and employees were friendly, happy, and helpful. The Cuban Sandwich was so-so… I wish I would have tried something else. It wasn’t bad by any means but it definitely didn’t ‘wow’ me. I would rate my experience as neutral. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it.
