My boyfriend and I visited on a Thursday night and the vibe was very chill. We ordered the pork chop sandwich and the chicken burger and both were amazing. The pork chop was tender and the breading was well seasoned. I loved the fries (I’m a French fry expert so I know what I’m talking about) and the gin cocktail was delicious. Usually I don’t do desert but our server suggested the apple pie empanadas which were amazing. Definitely will be back!

Went for dinner before a gig at the salt shed. What a wonderful experience, the food was phenomenal (the cornbread and the fried chicken in particular) and the service was outstanding. Loved it and we will be back soon I am sure.

We visited this establishment for Chicago black restaurants week. According to my partner the fried chicken was phenomenal. The moist cornbread was not sweet with actual corn niblets - which i can appreciate. But the star was the mushroom and grits. I love a good savory vegetarian option. The mushroom had a very nice flavor. I hope this is an actual dish on their standard menu. The atmosphere was warm and would be beautiful during the summer months in Chicago.

@1308_CHICAGO DO BETTER! CHICKEN WELL DONE N HARD ON THE OUTSIDE BUT RAW ON THE INSIDE?, GREENS WERE SUPER GRITTY AKA WASN'T CLEANED PROPERLY! IT FELT LIKE I WAS CHEWING ON PEBBLES?! THE BLACK EYED PEAS WERE HARD AND UNDONE.. I ASKED FOR A LEMONADE OR TEA AND IT'S NOT AN OPTION ?ONLY SODA, ALCOHOLIC DRINKS OR EXPENSIVE BOTTLE WATER. $42 FOR 2 PIECES OF RAW YET BURNED CHICKEN, HALF A SCOOP OF GREENS AND HALF A SCOOP OF BLACK-EYEPEAS. NO OPTION FOR PPL WHO DON'T EAT CHOCOLATE OR PEANUT FAR AS DESERT ANDTHIS PLACE SUPPOSE TO BE BLACKED ON ?BUT THE CHEF WHITE AND COOKS LATINOS . HOWEVER, Y'ALL TRYNA COOK SO CALLED SOUL FOOD!? I'M ALMOST CERTAIN ONE OF THE INVESTORS OR THE OTHER OWNER IS WHITE!I EAT AT RESTAURANTS SEVERAL TIMES WEEKLY! ESPECIALLY, BLK OWNED, AND Y'ALL HAS TO BE THE WORSE WHEN IT COMES TO SOUL FOOD aka (Blk soul food)!------------Replying to 1308 response:Well, as an award winning Chef, he should know A101... Which is, "Not" to have grease super high because it will cook the chicken on the outside but not the inside! He should know how to spot check his food and he should realize- he shouldn't serve slop and expect a good review! Not only did I experience this, but other individuals complained about the greens n chicken as well!Let's not down play my chicken was bloody in the inside! My Greens felt like I was chewing on dirt! (Clearly, proper cleaning training is needed immediately! And again, the peas were hard! Do the chef taste the food that is being prepared? If not, he should, and if so, he should have realized there was an issue with the greens n black eye peas and immediatel not have served them!Do y'all realize chicken should be 165 degrees or higher? Raw chicken can cause illness!Plus, the space is super crammed... Minimum conversation can be held due to the extreme lack of privacy... Yall have ppl sitting so close to the next party until one would think y'all all together. Lawd forgive, if plus size ppl tried to patronize! Seating would be a problem. Not having tea or lemonade is fine. But serving terrible tasting tap water and then wanting to charge outrageous prices for sparkling water is ridiculous! It would be nice to incorporate some non-alcoholic options everyone don't drink alcohol. If I missed this on the menu, my apologies. Here are few of "many" Black Owned Restaurants that I have visited !SouleL-StationSoul PrimeCleo'sProvareParish 14Garifuna FlavChubby'sBronzeville WineryKitchen KocktailsWilliams InnBronzeville Soul.ChesaVirtueWatta PotatoeThese are some alternatives for Black Owned restaurants. Loved the "speakeatery" vibes of this tiny, hole in the wall gem across from the Salt Shed. We came for dinner before a show and it was terrific! My cocktail was a "Oranie's Flower Shop", with botanical gin, a smoky honey simple syrup and sparkling wine, with a lemon twist--piquant and flavorful. We had the "corn ribs" as an appetizer and it was like skinny elotes on the cob--yum!! For dinner I had the butternut squash ragout with spinach noodles. The sauce was mild and flavorful and the noodles were very fresh, but I was wishing I'd ordered the chicken burger! I stole a bite from my friend and several fries... We ended up ordering a separate platter of fries just because we were all in love with the housemade ketchup!! They included a second dipping sauce with the fries that was dilly and creamy... So good. We then split the two dessert options and both were so delicious. I preferred the apple pie empanadas with ice cream but the moon pies with marshmallow and peanut butter were a sumptuous option. I would definitely go back.

1308 has become my favorite go-to place for a perfectly flavored meal and a cocktail! I devour the corn ribs every time and savor the butter burger until it’s gone. I have not had anything like their flavors and am looking forward to having 1308 again in the near-near future lol 10/10

Food was amazing and the bartender was super fun! Went here before a concert at the Salt Shed and it was so convenient to just hop on across the street after dinner! The restaurant even played tunes for the headliner across the street! Our waitress on the other hand was super slow, for a bit we thought she was never coming back. The waiter working at the same time was hustling and even compensated bringing our food to us and checking in.

The food experience during my recent visit was very much sub par. Was one of my local favorites but has gone downhill in quality since their former chef left. Edit. Buddy you have no proof I wasn't there. I was there last night Fri Dec 22. The food was not good. Unprofessional response.

Amazing food!!! Top of the line service! Very unique conceits for the food and they all work (especially the corn and pork belly). I eat here once weekly and LOVE IT! Also some great curation in the restaurant. Very very awesome spot!

Was good until they got rid of their executive chef through disreputable business practices. Edit: in response to the response, the chef was responsible for your good food which is no longer. So it is directly related to your food.
