Just left. Sat at the bar unacknowledged for 20 minutes. Bar was not busy. Also, today is my birthday so it’s highly unlikely that I’d ever return with such a bad experience.

The food offering was great, and we had a good experience and loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. However the steak was not cooked properly when we asked for medium, instead it was cooked as rare. The flan and the key lime pie for dessert was great! Neptune pillowAnd the grilled octopus was my favorite! I think I’ll come again for the desserts! And small bites.
Had the burger fries and croquettes. Everything was very good. Burger was two smashburger type patties. Slightly overcooked but good tatse

I’m a huge seafood fan, and getting seafood in the Midwest is a little bit of a challenge. Thankfully, there’s bar mar. It’s in a super convenient location in the loop, and I’ve eaten here for both lunch and dinner, and the food is just outstanding. I highly recommend the ceviche with quinoa, the poke bowl, and the lobster fritters. Basically, you can’t go wrong. They do get busy so I also recommend getting a reservation. Susie, the manager, was especially awesome and attentive.

Excellent food. Excellent, very professional, friendly and knowledgeable service. Overall nice ambiance (while packed for early dinner on a Wednesday); was not too loud, not but the high, very heavy chairs and tight packing of our table against others made it a bit awkward to get in and out of the tables. A minor complaint. A great experience overall.

Well, what can I say… Amazing!!!A big THANK YOU to our waiter Indira, she was 100/100!!!!!!!! Give her a raiseeeee!!! She helped us with food and drink choices and was very very nice! We’ve been here for my boyfriend mom’s birthday, it was our 1st time but I’ve heard that BarMar has a really good tasting menu, so that’s what we wanted to try. One friend in our company was vegetarian so we asked if he can order separately (their policy is if you’re taking the tasting menu - the whole table has to take it) and they said it’s totally ok!We took the most expensive set, I think it was 95$ per person, without wine pairing.Snacks were so yammy! I loooooved the little tacos with fish and salmon sashimi. The seaweed salad with papaya was a little weird and too SEAWIDISH ?? for me, but it’s ok. Same with their paella - I, personally, didn’t like it, but my boyfriend did. Do it basically all depends on your personal tastes. I can’t say that the some food positions were bad - just not for me.Oh, and their non-alco cocktail with salted foam is great, loved it! Same with dessert, it was toffee pudding- VERY VERY SWEET, but I like such stuff :)Overall, great place!
High Expectations: I strutted into Bar Mar like a foodie on a mission. Midweek happy hour? Sign me up! ?Cat-Tie Hero: The bartender #1 with the cat tie—my spirit animal! Service started purrfectly. ?Plot Twist: The bill arrived, and it was like a suspense novel. We’d ordered cabernet, but they charged us for the most expensive merlot. ?Grape Confusion: Bartender #2 claimed merlot and cab were interchangeable. I blinked. Was this a wine class or a Twilight Zone episode? ?Manager to the Rescue: Thankfully, the manager swooped in like a caped crusader. Crisis averted! ♂️Bartender 2: Enter Bartender 2—less desirable than a soggy cracker. ?♂️Odor Alert: And the pièce de résistance? The place smelled like old fish. ?

Fantastic food, marred slightly by service that crosses over from attentive to distracting. A must visit for patatas bravas.
Bar Mar has a chic vibe, with tall glass windows providing guests with views of the Chicago River and Wacker Drive. Large wraparound bar in the middle of the restaurant. Excellent food served in small plates that are great to share amongst any size group.

What an outstanding restaurant!!! Starting with the interior and finishing with the food ?????? loved it!!! Definitely going to be back !
I loved all. Food is amazing, music is cool and atmosphere is quiet, drinks are surprised like caipirina nitro and serrano margarita( it was very spicy for me, but I enjoy too) . I recommend a menu per person, but is a lot of delicious food ?.
Photos and commentary coming soon.
