So I picked up food from here to go for different friends and Ubereats. But I've never eaten here last night. Side to grab a couple of burritos on her way home. Oh my God, they're huge burrito with rice and beans. About 2 pounds got the mother clocker. That's a pound of chicken meat, wonderfully seasoned. You can taste the flame grilling. My partner got the steak. Elote burrito, that was really good too lots of cilantro. And lime and flavor, oh yeah, well, we're going back again

The best Tacos in all of Chicagoland! True Chicago portions, big enough to be burritos. Fire grilled gives the best taste. You can live off of this and it tastes amazing.

Carbon has been my favorite Mexican restaurant in Chicago for quite a few years. I don't live anywhere close to either location, but I gladly make the trek any time I get the Carbon crave. There hasn't been a single thing on the menu that I didn't like. Their steak is marinated/grilled to perfection and even their sides like their elote is fantastic. Their roasted red pepper sauce is one of the many things I HAVE to get when I visit. I'd buy it by the gallon if they'd let me!

Pros: (1) Wide variety of salsas all good in their own right, (2) Great serving size for price, 1lb meat in burrito + huge tacos, (3) Meat is fantastic, some of the best Barbacoa I’ve ever had (4) side option for guac for about $1.25 perfect for when u want guac but can’t commit to a tub of it that will inevitably go bad in your fridge (5) 2 kinds of chips, both solid options (6) good service, they read and listen to order notes which is niceCons: (1) I ate too much and feel great shame. Burrito was good as they use carne asada, but the Caesar salad that was 11$ was a joke....iceberg lettuce n crushed chips on top....a joke n waste of money

Very disappointed, steak burrito too small, dry. It has only onions and cilantro, no cheese no beans or anything besides meat that i spit out one forth of it was full of tendons. Paid $14 and i was still hungry. I normally go to Los Comals but i wanted to try new place and it was a mistake. I am going to stick with Comales burrito much better and has alot of stuff and only cost $8. First and last time i go to this restaurant.
I have started saving this place for bad days/special occasions because the prices have gotten so crazy, but the food is still pretty good. This is the second time in a row they've messed up my order (which for them, means a big swing in price if you're ordering a "special" vs basic meal), so this time I called to have it rectified. Probably won't go back after this, seems scammy...I paid for a $16 burrito for pick up and when I got home I discovered that the burrito they had given me was the $12 standard steak burrito. Not the end of the world, I order the stelote cause I like the way the make it but the steak burrito is still good. I wouldn't make a fuss if it weren't a $4 difference to my order for freakin' elote. I called to ask if they could update the order and offered to send pictures of the receipt we had vs. what was printed on the bag, a stelote burrito vs. a "stelote burrito, no elote" (literally that's what it said on the receipt... why would I or anyone order the more expensive steak & elote burrito then say no elote?). The woman who I spoke with said there was nothing they could do.I'm really disappointed, I liked this place a lot but after this and reading some more recent review it seems like it's going downhill.

Carbon, conveniently located just two blocks from my apartment, has proven to be a noteworthy spot for taco enthusiasts. My initial encounter with the front house staff left much to be desired, but the quality of their food is what keeps me coming back.A few months ago, I walked in with high hopes for a satisfying taco meal, only to be met with a less-than-welcoming vibe from the front house. The staff, particularly the girls at the front, were far from friendly or accommodating, making me reconsider dining there at the time.However, my opinion changed drastically a few weeks later when a co-worker surprised me with two steak tacos from Carbon. Those tacos were a revelation. They were generously filled with tender steak, fresh cilantro, and onions. The flavor was exceptional, and the packaging ensured they arrived still warm. My co-worker also brought a side of rice and a substantial portion of salsa verde, both of which perfectly complemented the tacos.The quality and taste of the food were so impressive that I've decided to make Carbon my go-to spot for tacos. I genuinely appreciate the quality of their offerings and would recommend them to others without hesitation.Unfortunately, I must mention that my attempts to dine in person at Carbon were met with the same disappointing front house service. It's disheartening that such excellent food is overshadowed by lackluster service. If the front house staff is consistently unenthusiastic or unfriendly, it may be worth considering a change.In summary, Carbon deserves a solid 5/5 for their delectable tacos.
