Hello, I came across your blog.The staff were friendly and although their English was limited, they explained things well and I enjoyed my meal. I asked for takeout, and they said of course they would, and it was a meaningful experience with my first steak in America.

As a top rated streak house in Chicago I thought it was .... pleasant. Gibsons was not, however, anything close to being in an exceptional steak house league.All the appetizers, side dishes, and salads were good. Crab cakes, very good, they even made us a special off the menu affogato after dinner, but I must admit, the steaks were just.. Over-seasondly Good.Good enough not to complain much about the price, but not good enough that you savored it through every penny's worth.Frankly, the common, but dependable chains like Ruth's Chris or Capital Grill are better or at the VERY LEAST as good..Given the heavy local competition, I'd most likely elect to skip it for a different option next time.

Honestly? We didn't have the best experience. Our waiter was terrific, but everything else was a bit of a miss.The Chicago cut was much thinner than the demo tray indicated. Our steaks were cooked incorrectly, with the doneness bring reversed on how we ordered. The double baked potato was simply not good.Maybe just an off night.

Sat outside, there was a heater that balanced the temperature with the breeze very well. I expected bread but didn't get any. My meal however was excellent, the waiter adjusted my order perfectly without asking (half salad vs a full) knowing what I was expecting. Best to share full orders of whatever sides you get. My streak was cooked and seasoned just right. So glad I was able to enjoy this while visiting Chicago.

The food was well prepared. The double baked potato was the size of Texas. My 10 oz filet well cooked with a wonderful crust. As a solo, I sat at the bar. It was ridiculous crowded and noisy but not unexpected.
Proper steak experience. Very American but in a good way.

Service, as always, excellent. We had two vegetarian diners with us and they ordered the cauliflower steak, which they enjoyed. Drinks and food were excellent. A bit too crowded at our table and people kept knocking the backs of our chairs while walking by. By this was very minor. Next time we will ask for a booth.Dietary restrictions: Two vegetarian customers at our table ordered the cauliflower steak. Not on menu. But it should be advertised.

Ordered medium, 2/3 of the steak looked like the cow was still mooing. Mushroom side did not have any seasoning. Forgot to serve me bread too but looking at the reviews I guess this wasn’t even a bad thing. Only thing that’s ok was the crabmeat avocado appetizer.
