I went here for dinner and drinks on a Friday. The server was great, but she was very busy as the place was packed. The place should have had one more person working. The music was blaringly loud and I had to talk loudly over the music the whole night.The food was really not great. The grilled chicken sandwich tasted like it was microwaved with little flavor and the asparagus I ordered, that the menu said was supposed to be grilled, came out steamed or microwaved with no seasoning.I also had multiple old fashioneds. They were not proportioned well. Old fashioneds are supposed to have sweetness. I even asked for each subsequent drink to be sweeter, but the bartender on duty ignored my request to our server.I would come here again, but only for beer and a party atmosphere. Not for a date or conversation.

It was my first time coming here and I had anticipated ordering the shepherds pie... When the waiter brought it out, I immediately noticed a burnt smell... Then I could see it, the mashed potatoes and cheese on top were pretty burnt. I should've sent it back for a redo, but I swallowed my pride and dug in anyway. After a few fork fulls of the burnt mashed potatoes & cheese I couldn't take it anymore because it was baked to the point where all you taste is char so I pushed them off to the side... What was underneath was a delicious shepherds pie filling that was not burnt but was hot, very rich and tasty. If I do decide to come back here and try the shepherds pie again, I would definitely mention to the waitstaff... PLEASE Don't over bake it .

This is my favorite summer spot for a beer and a bite. Irish family owns it and some bartenders and servers have charming accents. It's right next to a baseball field so it's so pleasant to sit out there and take in the summer wholesomeness while sipping a Guinness or Radler or whatever. I miss living in walking distance to this spot. Love it.
Worked with GW staff to host a party. They could not have been easier to work with, or have done a better job.Simple, straightforward.100% would recommend, and will probably do it again next year for christmas.

Food was average.Grilled chicken slightly overcooked.Friend had a steak that was a little tough.Service was excellent.Nice friendly atmosphere.Lots of room to move around.Plenty of big screen TV with sporting events.Guinness on tap.Parking: Find it on your own.

This place has the best Irish curry and Guinness. The curry is like the one you would find in Ireland. I highly recommend the chicken quesadilla. It's stuffed with grilled chicken and the verde is quite spicy. Bartenders and staff are all great.

I met a few friends here today for some brunch grub & beers. I've walked by this place a million times but prior to today, I had never been here. I got in a few minutes early, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and accommodating. My friends showed up and we were seated in the back bar area. Lots of NCAA Bball & Fball games on the big screens so it was crowded but not overly crowded. Out waitress was very nice, friendly, and from her accent, I'm guessing she was from Ireland. I was undecided on what to choose for brunch. It was gonna be either the Fish N Chips or the Reuben. She recco'd the Reuben, so i went with that. OMG. I've been in Chicago 33 years, and I have tried countless Reubens over the years but this one is definitely in my top 5, if not top 3. So delicious. And it wasn't just sliced Corned Beef deli meat. This was brined brisket to perfection, pulled apart and stacked high with the killer sauerkraut, melted swiss and fabulous thousand island/russian dressing. All between the grilled rye toast. It was perfect. A bit messy but that is part of what what defines a great Reuben. The fries, too, were awesome with skin on and the perfect side. I ate it all and I'm so glad I did. What a great meal. I will be back to Gideon Welles again & then I will try the Fish N Chips. Also, their beer selections are top notch. Kudos, Gideon Welles!
