Placed a phone order for pick up, male voice that answered the phone (couldn’t make out the name, but sounded like “stassy”) was super condescending. Sounded very put-out. And said it would be ready in 45 minutes. I was surprised and said, “45 minutes?” (considering it was a sandwich) - and he said, “I have a lobby full of customers” (in a very snarky tone) - as they should, because it’s a Sunday and they make great sandwiches. However, he did not at all make me feel like I was adding to the financial success of the business, and was rather put out that I was even placing an order. An $18 sandwich tastes better when it’s served with kindness and empathy. Someone else with more customer service experience should answer the phone orders. Until then, I won’t be giving this business my hard earned dollars.

I do my best to shop local but I’ve given up on this place. I’ve been here twice before, so I get it — they are slow and terribly inefficient, so I don’t go if I’m in a rush. But today I waited in line for 15 minutes and there were only 3 people in front of me, one of whom had ordered before I arrived. Another customer just wanted 6 bagels, and a tub of cream cheese. While I was waiting, a family of 3 walked in and were chatty with the owner, although it was clear they had not been there before. They asked if they should pay first (not the normal or obvious process), and he said sure it’s fine. When it was finally my turn, the younger employee asked for my order, but the owner stopped him, told him to make the THREE SANDWICHES for the queue jumping family first. He knew I was ahead of them.It would have taken AT LEAST 15 more minutes of waiting to order one freaking bagel with cream cheese. And it would have taken them 5 minutes on top of that to make it! So I left and am now eating a bagel and writing this review a few blocks away. Too many good breakfast places on Clark to go back. The reason I gave them 2 stars (not 1) for service is because they are friendly and nice, and 2/3 of the staff is on the elderly side. It’d be like giving one star to my grandpa. But, they need a better process and more staff.UPDATE: I decided to read some of the other reviews and am SO THANKFUL I have never ordered anything but cream cheese on a bagel there. I have never seen an establishment with more complaints about moldy food. YUCK.

I got my sandwich from online my order that I had made. the Lady fussed at me for making the online order. Fussed at me when I asked if it was ready. Then I got no condiments. The food was dry as a desert breeze. And then I purchased cheese on my corn beef. It was none there, so she stole from me. I do not recommend this way ever.

The whitefish spread is outstanding. Large chunks of fish and not salty like many. Bagels are also fantastic. I went three times in a week.

I love this place so so much. Best place to get a bagel and hand cut lox. The fish platters are phenomenal too. But I'm mostly leaving a review to respond to the reviewer here who is surprised that a JEWISH deli doesn't carry ham and cheese. It must be painful to be so phenomenally stupidAnyway, if you set your expectations right and don't expect to be served pork or cheese at a Jewish deli (lol) you'll have an amazing experience.

Omg, worst place ever. Corn beef is paper thin it’s more like lunch meat than real meat. It is a dark place like a corner bar. It looked dirty and uncomfortable and mine was a take out. I would not recommend this place if it was the last place on earth. FYI, really! clean up this joint. The only reason anyone would give this place good reviews is they have no taste and definitely no teeth. You can literally suck on the sandwich. Actually while I was there I did not see any one with teeth that included the workers. Horrible place just sick

There is no place on the menu to order a ham and cheese. A side is required, the coleslaw is not good. The sandwich seems to be missing cheese and mayonnaise. Expensive for the portion in a Kaiser roll. Roll seems processed, not bakery fresh. Minimum order of $25 is too much for one person for lunch. Bagel with sparse amount of chive cream cheese tastes spoiled and sour. Onions are strong. I threw it away! The Wife actually enjoyed the 1/2 sandwich I didn't eat.UPDATE: HORRIBLE service; one hour later and just making sandwiches now.

Has been my go-to deli for a while. Last couple of orders were never delivered. Apparently they still accept deliveries even when there are no deliveries that day, but then don’t even bother to call or apologize when you call to follow-up. Absolutely not worth the hassle.

Glad I stopped in on a weekday when the hours are later! Got a beef knish and spinach-mushroom knish for there as well as a sable sandwich to go (kept well). We got seated in their seemingly hidden seating area which is really nice, has outlets and little leg heaters, makes me wish for an occasion to have an event there, especially in the winter. Guy came up with a lens wipe for my smudged glasses so I could better see the knishes, which looked and tasted great. They're also a copy/fax shop on top of being a pharmacy.
