I didn’t particularly love this meal because it was just plain rice with chicken. A few green onions in chicken broth… not quite worth the price in my opinion. I do like the “hidden gem” vibes though of this restaurant tucked away in a grocery store.

Classic clay pot flavors that brings back memories here a Jonny's. Located in the back of a grocery store with many items to choose from as my favorite is the Chinese sausage and pork for $13. Pick a seat and they will bring it to your table. Suggestion to confirm you get the crispiest rice, let the rice sit for a few minutes before pouring sweet soy in your rice. No frills but you get a great meal. Highly recommend and free parking. They close at 7pm but you can sit until 8 as the grocery store is closed at that time.

Initially, I was craving beef claypot, but they were out of beef, so I went for the BBQ pork rice claypot instead. It was a delightful surprise! Ordering is done at the claypot counter, and payment is made at the store cashier. The staff's limited English might prompt customers to pick up some Chinese phrases. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! The claypot arrived steaming hot, with the rice perfectly crispy at the bottom, just as I had imagined. This place truly is a hidden gem, and I'm eager to share this cool hole-in-the-wall find with my friends! Great meal for 9.99! Don't forget to bring cash so you can leave them tip!

Our favorite place for some yummy, quick, claypot rice right now! They are well priced and perfect to share with a date or even by yourself. We usually get the spareribs w/ Chinese sausage pot with a side of veggie for two people (not even $20 total). The claypot rice is fragrant and has the perfect crispy rice on the bottom. You also get a free soup with your order. We usually roam around the supermarket and pick out drinks too. Such a delicious and cute date idea! Tip: You go up to the counter, order what you want, and the guy will give you an order form. You then take the order form and go to the supermarket checkout line to pay. Then, you will give the receipt back to the guy and your food will be out in a jiffy!

I was excited to try this place because I saw it on Yelp. It's definitely a very lowkey place - it's a stall in the Park to Shop on Canal Street (not to be confused with the other 2 Park to Shops in the area lol). There's a parking lot for car folks, but I just walked over from the Red Line. They mostly speak Chinese, but there are photos of the different claypot rices on the menu. You might have some trouble (I did, but a nice customer translated for me) if you pick one where you can choose a few toppings. I got the bbq pork (chashu) and roast duck toppings. It was good and came out pretty quickly, along with a comfy complimentary soup. It's a good portion for the price point ($11ish for the bowl).

This place is a hidden gem inside of a grocery store. So many Canto families dining here on the weekends. The pork rib and fish clay pot rices were so good. I liked the fish one even more, but it was a tad bit more of a hassle to eat because it had bones that you have to pick out. Overall, the rice was perfectly cooked and so satisfying on a cold day. The portions are huge and could easily be 2+ servings. I want to come back to try the chicken one next time!

Great food and made me think of home. Johnny cloud pot rice is located inside the supermarket. Each clay pot rice come with soup, and the waiting time for food is about 5 min! There are multiple tables available on Sunday afternoon.

I love Jonny Claypot Rice! It's a hole-in-the-wall food stall located within the Park to Shop grocery store on Canal and they serve some delicious claypot rice with delicious crisped rice at the bottom of the pot, done right!Three of us stopped in to give this place a try with a plan to share our dishes, since this would be the first stop of a Chinatown food tour we were doing with our friend from out of town. There were plenty of menus with pictures by food stall that make for easy ordering. We ordered:* claypot rice with bbq pork and fried pork (comes with complimentary soup of the day)* side of gai lan We came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I am not 100% of their exact hours, but I know on weeknights their last call for dinner is around 6:30pm. Trust me, my husband and I tried to eat here several times before. We would drive into Chinatown after work and stop in, to be told that were either already closed or had already served their last customers. So a tip for folks wanting to grab some claypot for dinner, come EARLY!We played it safe and came on a Sunday afternoon :) and we were so glad to finally be able to try it. The rice was so flavorful and it's really a no frills place. It's straightforward, you order at the stall and sit down at any available tables. It's self-serve / "fast casual" and oh so incredibly good. I think about going back to this spot almost weekly.Their soup of the day was very flavorful and although I can't put a name to the ingredients in it (maybe someone on the internet / Yelp Community knows), it was so comforting and served in those styrofoam take-out bowls that have such nostalgia for me when eating lunch in Chinatown as a kid.My only tip here is to check the hours and/or come early on a weeknight (no later than 6pm), since their opening hours might change. Plus, you can pick up any groceries on your way out and there are no concerns with parking (for the drivers out there). While it might be harder to get to via public transportation, there are plenty of parking spots in their lot and this store is a lot less crowded than the others right in the heart of Chinatown. Those are wins in my book. You've got to try Jonny Claypot!I'm on IG: @gratuitousgourmande

nice home in the wall style Chinese deli, a rare gem amidst all the restaurants.l for traditional fare. The crusty bottom reminds one of home cooked meals.

This place is amazing for the price! Chef is very nice, and the portions are very good. I also love the free soup they give you. As the weather gets cooler, this spot is a gem.
