Food is good, although the environment is not the cleanest. Servers don't really check on you,but they make sure you're waters not empty.

First time here with my girlfriend and her parents. I gotta give this place 5-stars. I am not Chinese so can't comment on whether this is authentic Cantonese dishes - but they're from HK so I'll take their word for it! The portions here are large - we ordered the pepper steak (very very... like very tender), tofu mushrooms with Chinese peapods (amazing and almost my favorite), salt and pepper fish (crispy fried and not fishy), and scallops with noodles (amazing and my favorite). It was way more than enough and we took the rest to go. The food comes out pretty fast and I like that there are plenty of accommodations for large groups and tables for two. Last piece of advice and perhaps most important - validate parking in the lot nearby off of Wentworth. Pretty much all the stores validate including Phoenix and it's just $2!

Went in, sat down at a table on the side and out came a rat the size of a small house cat it ran, and hopped across the restaurant passing two servers and into the kitchen. My party got up and promptly left. I wasn't willing to take a risk on their food or service ? I let the manager know about it, but he seemed like it was business as usual.. anyway, eat here at your own risk. You have been warned ⚠️

Below average dim sum for above average price. Price $32 | Rating 6/10 5 people at 11:30 with no wait. Seated in a spacious table and given the usual sauces, tea, and menu. Their selection was bigger than normal with things like duck dumplings and corn shrimp dumplings. The quality was disappointing. The har gow and crepes were over steamed and stuck together. The scallion pancake was more a bao and not crispy but the taste was still good. The veggies were fine and everything else was okay. Nothing special stood out. Paid in cash for discount and cost was 32 so for not being 100% full I was a bit let down. I would recommend other places but it wasn't terrible in case your friends insist.

We attended a private event. The lion dance was incredible. Both the food and service were outstanding! Highly recommended!

There was a dead cockroach cooked, sitting in the center of the 4 sui Mai. Unfortunately it was my last dish. The management covered our sodas. Grossest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Chicago should be very proud of its Chinatown. It rivals San Francisco's and New York's, and that's saying a tidy sum. On this 60° Sunday night, in Chicago in February, Chinatown was so jammed packed and congested you would think they were giving away free dinners! Wow was this district buzzing. The four of us chose The Phoenix restaurant as our dinner spot only for the mere fact, we've been everywhere else in Chinatown and we wanted to try something new. So we parked three blocks away (I told you it was busy here) arrived at The Phoenix and walked up two flights of stairs to this humongous room with more tables and chairs than most auditoriums. Their menu had some really good looking items, so we ventured into their selections and came out with: * Garlic Cucumber warm salad that was really good * Singapore Rice Noodles which was truly delicious * Saute Squid in an XO sauce that was as far as I was concerned was the star of the show * Spicy Szechuan Chicken with enough heat to get your attention. We all loved this dish * Pea Sprouts which had the perfect crunch - excellent * A slew of Ting Tao beer and a bottle of Hakushika Rice wine The ambiance here at the Phoenix Restaurant, looked and felt like I was in Hong Kong. The smell, atmosphere and mood this restaurant was throwing off took me to all of the fond memories of that city I loved so much. This alone will bring me back here many more times. There were a few "Hiccups" that happened (like it took 30 minutes to wrestle me up some hot mustard) but all and all I really liked The Phoenix Restaurant.

This baked quicksand bun is really disappointing. First of all, it is half smaller than before. When it was served, I was shocked. Why did it become so small?Secondly, as a package, it did not rise at all and collapsed. I reported this issue to the waiter, but the reply I got was that the quicksand buns are like this now because they changed chefs. So even if I change it, I can only eat the failed quicksand bun. If you are not satisfied you can only return it. And when I ate it, I found that the dough on the bottom was sticky, as if it was undercooked. In short, the quicksand buns are a complete product of the chef’s failure. Don’t serve these to customers? They are small, slimy and collapsed, and the quicksand buns are actually white! It’s not golden!

I dont know if it was just my order or what but when I ate here yesterday our crab fried rice hardly had crab it was mostly fried pieces of shell, also the view was one of the only good things about this place honestly, we got abandoned by the staff mostly and they seemed like they were too rushed to talk, but the Peking duck was mostly bone, the tea was bitter, and the loud clanking of glass. Yikes.

Dim Sum is in good quality. You can tell the Dim Sums are homemade and not supplied by Food distributor kitchen. I knew it because the Steamed Cha Siu Bao is using the correct bun doug (Which is cracked open and you can see the Cha Siu inside the bun) We visited on New year Day, and waited 30 mins for a table which is not bad considering it is the busiest time of the year. Staffs are very friendly and fast. Their menu price on list is up-to-day so no surprise when you get the bill. Some other Dim Sum restaurants I visited before were posting a price which is 3 years ago. If I can make one suggestion, it would be adding a small speaker (Or a number display) in the Elevator lobby where people are waiting to be called because the hostess voice is too small and it is very noisy in the area. You cannot hear the hostess through the glass door when she call your number. For sure people don't want to miss their number after a long waiting.

Been to Phoenix about 50 times in my life. It used to be the flagship restaurant in Chinatown. It's been a while since I last visited. Based upon my Sunday's visit for dinner, it has gone down a bit. The food is solid, the service is OK, and the washroom is bad. The Peking duck was very good, the salt & pepper squid & shrimp was good. The boiled chicken was just OK. Hope for some improvements next time.

Had lunch here. Parking is on the street right across from the restaurant. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building. It is a very authentic restaurant. We ordered several appetizer-sized dishes and enjoyed everything we ate. I'd definitely go back again.

Let me start with walking into this restaurant was just like going to a place in Zhuhai. It was amazing. Large tables for big groups to come together and share some wonderful Dim-Sum and 100% authentic Chinese food. Everything was just perfect and service was fast and friendly. It was the perfect stop during my visit to Chicago. I highly recommend if you looking for a place that has room for many people.

Good service for Saturday dim sum at 11am. Love that they came around with ribs for us to choose from. I enjoyed everything but nothing was a stand out to me. Very seafood forward as expected. Great view out of the window from our table.
