I’ve heard such amazing things about Piece for years and finally gave it a go on a Friday night. After calling ahead and being told it was “first come first serve,” I walked in with my group of 5. The hostess told me it would be a 30-minute wait. No sweat — we put our name and phone number in and waited at a nearby bar. After 30 minutes had passed and we hadn’t received a text, we walked back over to check on the table. The same hostess said our names hadn’t registered in the system, so we never would have received a text. Thankfully, they were able to find a table for us. Our server was kind, but disappeared after taking our drink order for about 15-20 minutes. We ordered two of their special pizzas (the atomic sausage and honey butter fried chicken), a custom white pie and guacamole. The guacamole (ordered because we were starving) was not seasoned and the chips were store bought. The pies, which we came there for, were completely overcooked. I like a crispy crust, but this crust was like eating pita chips topped with the most minuscule amount of sauce and cheese. The toppings were delicious but were placed so sparingly on the pizza that they got lost on the atrociously cooked crust. The five of us eating were all disappointed — both by the food but also the general lack of service and attentiveness. This was a huge disappointment as we have all heard such amazing things about Piece. I can’t imagine I’ll be back anytime soon.

This place is excellent! Their goat cheese appetizer is simple but so tasty. The pizza is absolutely amazing. The crust is good and crispy and holds the toppings well and the cheese and sauce are also very good. Can't recommend this place enough! The service was already really nice and they have a great selection of drinks. Definitely would go back and make this a go to place

FYI.....Flew in Friday...... my son called that morning to make reservations. The person that answered the phone said we do Not take reservations the same day:(? We show up at 6:00 Pm to put our name on the waitlist which was 1.5hrs in which we did ( Friday night) Showed up at 7:30 to be told the reservations for that day will be seat first. Keep in mind when you look around there were 3/4 tables sitting empty. The young gal would Not give us a time frame or how much more we have to wait, Wouldn't it be just ethical to let people know they have no chance of eating there instead of putting them on a string, So we find somewhere else to eat at a reasonable time, in which there many other options....... Not very happy, need better management, need more employee training, owner should be present. If an owner sees all these reservations empty seats and people are waiting to be seated aren't you loosing money Or do you not care?

We had an awful experience to start this night. We had a reservation at 7:00pm and did not get sat until 7:40pm. We were told by the hostesses that we were the next 6 top table on 4 occasions but watched 3 tables get sat before us. If I have a reservation, I should be able to get sat at or around the time of the reservation. OR if they were just honest from the start- that it would be a 40 minute wait from our reservation then we could have made other plans. I worked in a restaurant and I have been a hostess so I understand the uncertainty and pressure. But it is super important that you are honest about the situation so guests can make an informed decision. We were lied to on multiple occasions that it “would be any minute”. The table we were waiting on had a full drink, we found out later so it was never going to be a short wait. We finally got sat 40 minutes later at a table for four people so we had to squeeze into that table. Eventually they moved us to a bigger table half way through. We brought my parents in from out of town and looking back I wish we picked a different restaurant. I was not going to write a review but there were a lot of unhappy at the host stand that night (at least 5 families). I was able to listen to their concerns as I was waiting there for quite some time. I think it is an issue you need to be addressing and I wanted to bring it to your attention. The food was amazing when it came and our server was fantastic and that saved the entire experience. Can't say enough good things about him and the cooks!

The pizza is so delicious and their beers are great! It's smaller than it used to be, but it's still a good size. We love pizza and drive from the Southside here!

We stopped here while on travel in Chicago from a recommendation from a sales clerk at a store near by. We were highly disappointed that we sat there for more than 10 mins and not one staff member even came by to acknowledged us. We walked out and found this place called Lou Malratis Pizzera on Instagram and they did not disappoint. I would not unfortunately give this place a second chance to redeem them selves because they place we did get our pizza from was so amazing I would order from them again when we bring out kids back with us.
Pizza here is so good! Many options to choose from and no wrong choices! Large sizes, thin crust, served hot and fresh quickly. They also have a front area with nice private space for larger parties which is really nice! Nice service and the bartenders definitely hustle! Plenty of great beer options too! Even when looks busy it's always quick to get service. Closes at 10pm each night though. Highly recommend!

This slice of Wicker Park/Bucktown is stacked with pizza places, so anywhere that serves pizza has to really stand out.I haven't been to New Haven to try New Haven style pizza yet, so i have no idea how the pizza here compares to actual NH pizza. But compared to pizza in and around Chicago, and even the immediate neighborhood, I'd say it's below average. It's not a bad pizza by any stretch, but there's something missing. Maybe a bit of char. The crust is a little bland. It eats a little soft, especially at the tip due to the lack of char. It's simple and doughy. Now, these "flaws" may not be flaws at all and are just characteristic of NH style pizza. In that case, it's just not my jam and you may think it's awesome if I'm describing the perfect NH slice. Different strokes and all that.As a local, I've tried every pizza within a ten minute walk of there and I'd would put Craft first, then Paulie Gee's, then Etta, then Dimo's, then Piece, then Paradise Park, then Lou Malnati, then Jet (see? A lot of pizza in the area). A little further north is My Pi, which is the best deep dish in the neighborhood and also a pizza I would rank above Piece.I'd still recommend going. I can tell they execute their vision for pizza well. It's a fun spot. There's a great beer selection. And more people enjoy it than don't.

Food is excellent and so is the ambiance but our waitress was rude. No smile and when asked if we could pull our table forward so people can get in and out she said "you can't move the tables". I wish our waitress was more accommodating and friendly to take our order.
