All in-restaurant diners (not sure about takeout) are charged an automatic 20% gratuity for food/beverage drop-off, yet all ordering is handled by diners who have to scan a QR code and place their order online. Service did not involve checking on food/drinks or refilling water. In addition to the automatically applied 20% gratuity charge, the checkout process defaults to adding an additional 20% tip, which you can opt out of. I was in a party of 2.

okay, so we’ve been to Ørkenoy several times before and we always enjoy it. the food has a unique twist (Nordic modern) relative to Chicago’s culinary scene but it’s very accessible, a good value, and the drinks are solid. it’s usually just us, but this day we were a party of 8, including 4 children, which is kinda daunting for most restaurants. our server was totally great, friendly, and informative, and really welcomed the 5 folks who’d never dined at Ørkenoy before. the burgers were delicious, the kids loved the meatballs with lingonberry sauce, the pickled eggs were a hit, plus we adults all enjoyed our cocktails. one cool thing about the space is there’s a claw machine and freethrow hoops at the other end of the Kimball Arts Center, so the kids (with adult supervision) were able to divert their energies while the kitchen prepared everyone’s meals. i am uniformly amazed when i talk to chicagoans who have yet to dine at Ørkenoy, as it’s obviously very much worth checking out!Parking: Plenty of free parking options.Kid-friendliness: We brought 4 kids to lunch and nobody batted an eyelash. The kids were down to try everything and generally had a great time! Plenty to explore!

Amazing experience here. Really good beer and food that was remarkably good, all within a very cool and tidy space. Expectations very much exceeded and will definitely be going back!

The laidback quiet vibe of orkenoy makes this a great place to have a Sunday beer and just breathe. Service was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food. Especially the oysters were. Stop by on a bike ride if you get the chance. (4.0/5)

My review is long overdue. I've been to Orkenoy many times since I live in the neighborhood. They always have a great food special like Wednesday oysters and fish fry's. I love their small bites. It's a great space to bring a hang with a friend or do a date night over some cocktails. Bartenders are always welcoming and knowledgeable about the beers on draft.

Really unique bar and restaurant. The menu features a lot of great rotating cocktails that have a Scandinavian flare.I have celiac and there are plenty of GF options and staff are always helpful in making sure nothing is cross contaminated.Dietary restrictions: Celia (gluten free)

Food is fine but the service here is surprisingly awful. Waitstaff all had a nasty attitude towards me and my party that had been here before and I’m not sure why. Will not be returning which is a shame since it’s so conveniently located.

Only had the beers, did not try the food. It's a very clean space kind of like IKEA. So it's a little bit nicer venue but we came in running clothes as we just ran the 606. Everybody was very friendly and nice. Would like to return to try the food. We saw other people order, and it looked very good.

I was staying at an AirBnB nearby and was very excited to try this place after walking by a few times. We came on Sunday 11/19/23 shortly after opening. In summary, you should avoid this place for the reasons below, unless they are addressed by management.Overall the server was good - she was very friendly, attentive, and sort-of knew the menu. There was an issue with the online ordering system showing multiple items out of stock, including the potato pancakes. We asked the server if the online system was accurate and if the pancakes were indeed out of stock. She said they were out. Then we saw multiple other tables eating potato pancakes. So that was confusing. The online ordering system accessible only inside the restaurant is also totally different from their published PDF menu on their website. Vegan Cesar salad was average but the dressing slightly too sweet. The Caraway buns were rock solid and totally inedible. The leek/smoked fish quiche was inedibly salty. The burrito was average. The restaurant is very Instagram friendly. Concept is cool (never tried Scandinavian food). But with the menu issues and nearly half of the food inedible, overall it was a bust. Check out DayGlow (same owner) next door though for great coffee.

We came here while we were on the waitlist for dinner elsewhere. We enjoyed our drinks and potato pancakes. I credit the staff here SO MUCH because we had originally ordered something else, and after a while our waiter came up to us and explained that they were having issues with the food we ordered, and it was simply not up to par to serve. We loved the honesty and ordered something different. We also are from out of town and our phones were dying, they helped us out by letting us borrow a charger. Thanks so much!
