We had excellent food and excellent service tonight at Shaw's Crab House. We chose to sit on the casual side of the restaurant, which meant no white table cloths but the menu was still the same. My Life's a Peach cocktail was tasty, as was the gumbo. My husband and I shared the Shaw's seafood platter, which was delicious. I will definitely be back. 5 stars all around.

This is a must if you're in the Chicago area. Came for lunch--chilled oysters, Caesar salad and the whole chilled Norwegian king crab that the server opens and cracks table side. OMG!! I have never tried Norwegian king crab before and all I can say is wow! This was quite an experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Shaw’s is old school in the best possible way. Food is always delicious and very fairly priced for the quality. Service is fabulous too. We went most recently to celebrate a double birthday in our family, and our server was attentive and funny throughout, even though it was a busy weekend night. Never felt rushed and everything we ordered was amazing, especially the oyster sampler (we needed up getting two!).

Server was horrible on the Oyster Bar side. Great atmosphere I must say!Felt rushed with the waitress while at a little table! Never gave us straws for the water. If I wanted to order big I could not due to the fact the table was so small. Naw Chicago…visiting from a different city it was not a good experience for me!

This restaurant was a huge let down on my recent trip to Chicago. I would recommend skipping this and opting for RPM seafood instead. The oysters were mediocre- not bad, not great. We followed by the sushi- the spicy tuna roll was fantastic, and the crab crispy rice was good as well. The middle salmon roll was extremely lemony; I ended up picking the lemon off the top which helped balance the flavor profile. Now for the bad- we ordered the pre-cracked crab claws. As you can see in the photo they were barely cracked but the real problem was they tasted spoiled. We each took a bite and nearly spit it out in fears of getting food poisoning- it was that bad! We did tell the waiter who took it back and the manager ended up walking over to apologize stating it's the end of the season and although she doesn't think our crab was "spoiled" it did look grey in color. They offered us something else instead but we were pretty grossed out about the seafood at that point. The seafood salad came out after that and although it truly looked amazing, neither of us could really eat much of it after the experience with the crab claws. Still hungry, we ordered a cheesecake and rasberry pie dessert and both dishes were outstanding. The cheesecake was creamy and not too sweet, and the rasberry pie was tart with a perfectly crumbly sugar crust. Unfortunately, it really was that experience with the "grey" crab that ruined our dinner at Shaw's.
