Their location is a small section of a hallway in the Rockewell on the River building, so it's easy to miss from the outside. My family loves barbecue, and we grabbed lunch from Soul and Smoke during a brewery outing (RIP Metropolitan). From the first bite, we were freaking out over the Brisket Mac and Cheese. The part components on their own are so freaking good - cheesy Mac and tender brisket with flavorful sauce, which makes the whole dish a rave. When my sister visited Chicago a few months later, we got the same dish from their Time Out Market location in Fulton Market, and the quality was the same! My brother greatly enjoyed their brisket sandwich, but I still think about this brisket mac!! Hopefully whoever leases the Metropolitan Brewing location next will be complementary to Soul and Smoke. Good beer and great barbecue are a perfect pair.

First time visitor. Very good rib tips. Very good Red Beans a rice. The woman helping me was kind enough to let me try the 3 different sauces they do offer. All was very good. Tender, flavorful. Nice and clean with just the right amount of fat to provide the extra flavor. Looking forward to going back.

I was in the mood for some good BBQ ribs, so I decided to stop by here for my very first time. The server was really calming and welcoming. The food was honestly not bad and very tasty. Rice & beans & mac n cheese were both really good, but little bummed that came in small portions for such a high price. The ribs were super delicious and tendy. Bbq sauce had a strong flavor to everything. The caramel is a small size for $8, but honestly really good. I feel like I could find another one at a decent price and portion size. Overall, so far a great experience!

I visited this gem on a whim, and I am so happy I did. The customer service was superb because of their very personable staff. The ribs were delicious and the perfect texture. I ordered a side of mac n cheese, and it reminded of that one family member that we all have who’s always designated to bring the mac n cheese because it’s just so darn good! No regrets, seriously! I am thoroughly pleased. I will definitely be going out of my way to return.

I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews, but the pound-and-half of rib tips left me feeling like they had a secret life as boiled, minimally seasoned travelers before a quick oven visit for a touch of char. Unfortunately, the portions didn't quite match the price tag. The meat was a tad fatty, and some pieces felt like I was in a chewing marathon. The sides I also ordered which were the baked beans and smoked chicken gumbo, were delightful but came in containers suited for a fairy’s feast! A few spoonfuls and it's a wrap. Small portions, big surprise! While disappointed, I believe with a bit more seasoning and generosity with portions, this place could really shine.
