The food was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and the service was great. We had edamame and the beef asparagus appetizer to start. The beef asparagus was delicious. The 3 maki rolls were very good. For dessert, we had the sorbet in a white chocolate shell- that was delicious! I've already made two more reservations here.

My fiance made dinner reservations for 6:45 PM on a Wednesday night; we arrived on time. This was our first time dining at this restaurant, and it will also be our last. Food was great--the volcano roll, sea bass, and chicken teriyaki bento box were delicious! But, service was horrendous. After being seated and looking over the menu, the first thing our server said to us was, "What would you like to order?"... no "Hi, how are you? Have you dined with us before?" Nothing of that sort, just straight to business. We placed our order and received our food/cocktails thereafter. The server came to our table to ask how everything was when we first got our food (this was nice!). However, we did not receive a visit from our server at any other point throughout our meal. My fiance wanted another cocktail as he finished his mid-meal. The server only then returned when our plates were cleared around 7:30 PM. She didn't ask if we wanted anything else, and instead, she had a device in hand ready to go so we could close out our tab. She turned the device to face my fiance so we could pay, but my fiance asked for a second cocktail instead first. We were both still working on our drinks while the server returned another time around 7:45 PM, this time to rudely say, "We have another reservation. Do you mind?" The reservation she was referring to was literally being seated at the table directly behind ours as she was ultimately asking us to leave. Completely caught off guard, we just pushed our UNFINISHED drinks to the side on our table and left. We've never had this happen while eating out. Since when is it a thing that you can't stay at least ONE HOUR from your reservation time to enjoy food and drinks. If you're looking for a place that will rush you, a paying customer, out the door before you've even finished your food or drinks, I can't recommend this place enough!

This chicago sushi and Japanese food spot near the Music Box theater is a fav place for me...The ambiance is nice, waitstaff is great and the sushi and other items are always fresh and tasty now add to that, really nice price point on everything and what's not to like? Needless to say I've never had a bad meal here and it's easy on the pocketbook when you aren't trying to spend a fortune on sushi. Can't wait to go back.

I really enjoy Sushi Mura, but I don't think I'll be back. I don't think I have ever written a less than 4 star review, but on a slow Saturday lunch meal, our bill came with two extra rolls for that we didn't order. I verbally noticed the bill was abnormally high for a two person party. After paying and having the receipt sent to me via email, I double checked it and noticed two extra rolls. I notified our server by gently walking over to ask about the two xtra rolls added to the bill, and to my dismay, they had already had a new receipt printed with a corrected bill and promptly followed me to my seat, placing the bill on the table, ensuring the corrections were made and walking away. It felt like they weren't expecting me to notice, until I verbally said something about the price being high for a two person party. My friend felt the same. Ultimately, I was assured that we would get a refund and they made the necessary corrections needed to get ~ $25/30 in refund. Nothing has come. I write this review because I believe that this is a deceitful business practice, and I want you to be aware.

Presentation of meals was beautiful, service was fast. Had the tempura and some sushi, both were great.

It was a very nice restaurant, the service was excellent and the food was wonderful. They waiter was very helpful with food allergies and they had a lot of choices for different lifestyles. Excellent!!

This is a great Javanese restaurant in the Southport neighborhood.

Date Night was at Sushi Mura on Southport. I got the Kamikaze roll, Max got the teriyaki salmon and we shared a tuna nigiri and yellowtail nigiri. I tried one edamame because the shape kind of weirds me out. I will say there weren't THAT many gluten free options since there was eel sauce and shrimp tempura incorporated into a lot of the rolls, but I guess you could always ask for substitutions. The kamikaze roll was a little warm, which I actually liked in this case because it had a melt in my mouth feeling. The tuna and yellowtail nigiri were good, but I've had better fish in the city. Itoko down the street for example I would say has fresher fish, at least that's how it tastes. It was bustling Saturday night, and unfortunately understaffed, like many restaurants in the city after Covid. Despite that, the service was really good and our waitress very nice.

Love this place! Dragon maki is the best! I get it even when I'm pregnant since the eel is cooked. I crave sushi every pregnancy!

The sushi was not the highest quality and the fish was cut too chunky. Do the prices being charged I expected A LOT better.

Absolutely terrible pick up experience. It took 35 minutes beyond the “pick up time” to get the food, even though the employee said it would “be right out” when we arrived on time.I was asked 3 separate times (twice by the same server) what “the name on the order” was and they acted surprised every time I mentioned I was already waiting. They eventually gave a woman who came in after us, also waiting for pick up, a free dessert as an apology, but did not acknowledge us. When I did receive the food, I asked why they had not also offered me an apology dessert, and they had the audacity to say they didn’t know I was waiting. Just terrible service sadly. A shame because the food here is great.
