I was visiting Chicago. We ate her together 40 years ago and looked forward to returning. Sadly, this restaurant has changed, and I can say, for the worse. My wife had Sauerbraten, and I had the Jagerschnitzel. We took a few bites and were greatly disappointed. We ate half of our meals and asked for the checks. The house beer was ok, the root beer was excellent. The server was the only plus.

Nearly all of the dishes ordered were not fully cooked. One member of our party threw up after eating the food. The croutons were squishy and the chips you could fold in half without a tear. The ceiling was also very low on the bottom floor.

The saurbraten was just ok. It was not as I expected. Usually it has more seasoning to it. I've been coming to Berghoff for years, so trust me I know. This entree was "off". It's a shame.
