First time dining here. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Feels like an old time Chicago restaurant. The service was exceptional, attentive and informative without being over bearing. The food itself had very generous portions and was quite tasty. The prime rib and meat loaf were both some of the best I have had. I had the Bibb salad and my wife had the Cesar. I was very happy with the whole experience. When it comes to where you choose to dine, I would choose to eat here again and again.

Chimi was the best server! We loved hearing his explanations of all of the choices, it was so difficult! My favorite was the prime rib! Victor kept our table clean and watered the whole evening. It was so impressive that the owner was also there and greeted and sat our table! Will be back ? 5 star dining and service which I feel is hard to come by these days! Would have took pictures but we were excited to eat it!

i was really enjoying easter brunch until the bill arrived without my reservation deposit being applied to our final bill. the problem here is that Tock, the online reservation system, said my hefty deposit WOULD be applied to my final bill. when the server told me very matter of factly that i would be refunded instead because the deposit is meant to ensure that ppl show up, i was seriously annoyed. well, i showed up. early. so why do you get to keep my money longer than necessary and why aren't you honoring what your reservation system says by applying it to my bill? ?

Great, cozy atmosphere. Had reservations and were seated quickly. Attentive service kept glasses full and table clean. Prime rib was excellent. Wedge salad was good, but came with chopped lettuce and not a wedge. Peanut butter pie was very rich but good, huge portion! Live music added to ambiance.

This is a really nice place to go for a celebration. Really fancy and upscale sort of vibe. Free coat-check, stuff like that. We had a reservation and were seated pretty much right away. The menu is a bit pricey (for instance, the bread cost money but it did have cheese in it). I will say that almost everything we ordered was incredible. I would avoid the mac-n-cheese. It was bland. But the steak, beef wellington, and meatloaf were amazing. We got the cheapest bottle of wine (because why not?) for $60. You can buy that same bottle at Walgreens for $12. Not judging, just putting that information out there. I'm not much of a wine person, so maybe the higher end stuff is priced better. I had a few sidecars and they were good. The prices may be a bit high, but I will say that we all left feeling very full and still each had a to-go box.The staff was very nice and helpful. Our server was busy but kind and attentive.Overall, we had a great time here and will definitely be back for celebrations and special occasions.

The TSC is packed on this Saturday evening! Nice, good energy going. Service is attentive, courteous. Very professional. The food is ? excellent. Ample portions of everything made just right. Mrs❤️ had prime filet medium well, chef's kiss, and the braised spare ribs which I almost couldn't finish? It was superb. So I took a short break and got back into it? Every bite of those ribs was perfect. The veggies and mash accompanying this dish is top-rate. My physician will be disappointed, but if I could I'd have these ribs everyday ?Calamari is very, very good with the Caesar salad greens. (Nix the salad dressing.) Get the broccolini and the asparagus ?? and save some room for dessert. (We will next time!)Parking: I highly recommend getting car service (Lyft etc.) if you're dining at the TSC. One less thing to worry about.

I really don't want to rate this any lower than five stars because Tortoise probably has the best décor and ambiance in the entire city. At least for my taste. I've been here for drinks and happy hour apps before so I figured I'd try going for dinner. We were greeted by our server upon sitting down and she took our drink orders right away. Later we each ordered an entrée and added a side. The mains arrived but my Chilean seabass was barely warm. When the server came by to see how everything was, I told her mine was at room temperature and she took it back right away. For the record, I absolutely hate sending food back. It's awkward and embarrassing, so if the food is mostly edible I'll normally just deal with it. But this was a $50 seabass, and I just wasn't comfortable eating what was basically $50 sushi. One of the kitchen staff came out shortly after and brought me a new one, and yes it was hot, but now this one was overcooked! A Chilean seabass should be tender and flaky when cooked correctly, not slightly chewy like this one was. I wasn't about to send it back a second time, so I just dealt with it.While eating, we were wondering when they were going to bring out our side, but it never came. We brought it to our server's attention when she came back and she apologized for it not coming out. She showed us a dessert menu and we ordered one to share. She informed us that the dessert was comped, which was nice, however a free $10 dessert doesn't quite equate for three (two that they knew about) screw ups.I tipped the proper amount because I do not believe any of this was the fault of our server, but rather the management. No manager came by to apologize, ask how things were and maybe comp our drinks. For me, that gesture alone would have fixed everything. For their prices, they need to either deliver on it or make things right. They did neither.I'll go back just for drinks, but dinner is just way too expensive for what you're actually getting.
