I'm giving 4 or of 5 stars based on food taste preference. I ordered shrimp fried rice, spring rolls, Crab Rangoon, and pork pot stickers. Food was hot and fresh. Parking was free in front there's a step to get in so not wheelchair accessible. The restaurant was clean, I would order from here again.

Delicious pickled fish soup! We also got the peapod leaves with garlic sauce, BBQ pig feet, and red bean jelly dessert, which were all very good. The staff were very nice, refilled our water often, and brought us extra spoons and bowls for dessert.

Huge bowl of soup!Plenty of fish meat.Offering up exactly what's advertised: pickled fish.If you don't love pickled things or vinegar taste, it's ok; it's not so strong that you can't still enjoy.I felt accomplished by eating all the fish meat. Took the leftover broth home.Super clean and modern place. Friendly service.

A very unique food experience, the pepper soup and pickled fish was unlike anything I've ever had. Great service, quick, nothing will necessarily blow you away but very fresh and tasty and will definitely be back on a cold day.

My friend and I got half picked fish fillet and half spicy beef. Both are absolutely flavorful and delicious. The portion are huge though and can be easily be shared between four people so we ended up taking much leftover home. Definitely recommend coming here with a bigger crowd so you can try more food! We spent $50+ each person but if you have a bigger group, it’s more around $30+ range. The staff was helpful and the place is clean and bright. I’d surely comeback!

Yao Yao was fantastic! We had the pickled fish for 2, Schwann green beans, husband & wife beef and the kids had orange chicken. It was all really good. The green beans were the best I have had.Kid-friendliness: They had great kids options. Even my picky kids loved it.

We really enjoyed the pickled fish and fatty beef here. The food was not spicy, but the portions were big. It was good to split between 3 people. The food came out fast and the menu was small so their speciality was totally the fish and fatty beef. It is cooked in a sour soup which was very good. The meal is on the more expensive side since the one thing was 80$.

Excellent food and service. The dishes, though not all to my liking, were unique and noteworthy. It’s about 30-50$ per person and well worth the Michelin bib gourmand rating. A true new gem in Chinatown. Will return.Ours was a party of 14 and total bill of about 400$+

I found this restaurant through Tiktok so since on Xmas everything was close we decided to go to no other better place than Chinatown. I wanna to try yao yao since I saw it the first on my tiktok feed but I don't live nearby so I couldn't make it before. When we first got in I was literally impress. First so modern and beautiful, second open concept kitchen??? very rare on any chinese restaurants, this give a scene of clean and trustworthy since you can see how they cooking so you know it should be clean. Everything on the restaurant it's decor with white and blue, absolutely beautiful modern. Now about the food, we didn't get the famous fish bowl , instead we got chicken fried rice, mongolian beef and pork on garlic sauce. Each of this dishes were AMAZING, very tasty and big portions, I thought perhaps it was not going to be enough food but I was wrong, we left super full with only 3 dishes. The star of the night was definitely the mongolian beef, so tender and tasty, it was just mouthwouring. I recommend this place 100%, please stop by because it's literally worth the drive if you are not nearby, I give this restaurant a 10/10.

We ventured to savor the pickle fish soup, and it exceeded our expectations! I highly recommend the soup if you appreciate a pronounced pickled flavor. While the Tangyuan was a mixed experience—the rice balls with sesame filling were scrumptious, the accompanying soup erred on the watery side with a slightly peculiar taste. Nevertheless, overall, I find this place appealing and would certainly return for another culinary exploration

Dinner for one: (too much) vinegar soup. The signature pickled fish dishes of this restaurant that are noted in the Michelin guide are meant as a group meal to be eaten by several people, and start at $48.A meal for one is a little less than half that, but is enormous and realistically impossible to finish in one sitting. While chili peppers, ginger, garlic, and other strong spices are present in this grandiose soup, the overpowering flavor is vinegar, and the flavor of the fish is almost invisible. For those who really like spicy vinegar, this would be a meal at ¼-⅓ the size; as it is, it is far too much of a good thing.
