It was my first time visiting & ordered a Cali burrito w/steak. All I can say is “Simply Delicious”! The cashier who was the Mgr Mike made a phenomenal suggestion to grab a side of your chipotle sauce which put the burrito over the top! What I was blown away by was Mike’s touch on service. He brought my food to my table but also a side of their new flavored fries with a chipotle mayo sauce for dipping, which was “Fire”!!!! Everything was delicious & I’m already craving. I had a phenomenal experience but the Mgr Mike made it special w/his touch of hospitality. Keep it up because you now have a new fan & lifelong customer!!!!

The Schaumburg location is so much better! The crystal lake location lacks in service and the chicken is not up to par it is like it has been sitting around and the food and fries are not fresh.

With its lively ambiance and delectable menu, Guzman y Gomez in Crystal Lake provides an amazing dining experience. The Cali burrito, with its ideal combination of flavors and abundant ingredients, is one of their best dishes. Every mouthful is a flavorful treat, from the soft grilled pork to the crisp salsa and smooth guacamole. The delicious ingredients are encased in a warm, pillowy tortilla, producing a flavorful symphony that leaves customers hankering for more. A delicious culinary adventure that fulfills every appetite is guaranteed at Guzman y Gomez, whether you're a devoted follower or a first-time guest. At the end of the day I go for the mouthwatering Cali burrito.

The only reason I give GYG a 3 star is solely on cost to portion ratio. GYG is on par with Chipotle in the cost department, but the portion is small. The review I'm giving is based upon a burrito bowl. Other than that, food tasted very good. The workers were friendly, and the establishment seemed very clean.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this place would get any return business. I suppose if you have a very bland palate and have never had decent Mexican food beyond Taco Bell you may find this OK. I have tried this twice and will definitively never go back. I've had four different kinds of tacos there and they are so below average. The place is too expensive, presumably because of its franchise looks and overblown packaging that just made me mad for the sheer waste of it. And what really makes me mad about that is how skimpy they are with the meat in their tacos!!Even more maddening, I tried their ground beef tacos just to get a baseline for a basic taco and it had less meat than any others. That's embarrassing! Maybe this from their website helps explain the lack of passion for food: Guzman y Gomez was founded in Sydney in 2006 by New Yorkers and childhood best friends Steven Marks and Robert Hazan. Steven, a former hedge fund manager, and Robert, who had a background in fashion wholesale and retail, both missed the authentic fresh flavours of Mexican cuisine that they had grown up with in America. I mean, they appear to be money guys who decided to open Mexican restaurants. Geez, can't figure out how that might fail. Seriously... go to Costco or any other grocery store and buy Carnitas, chicken fajitas, or any other premade meal, a jar of decent salsa, and some cheap tortillas, and enjoy a better meal than you will get at this restaurant every day of the week.

I love how it says traditional Mexican food and it definitely isn’t traditional at all. It’s chipotle with glitter on it. But chipotle has more options for toppings. My daughter got chicken and I got carnitas, the meats did taste good but you don’t get a lot of meat. The pinto beans were ok. Way too many onions. Chips were good, my daughter said the fries were good, guacamole was not like Mexican guacamole but it was decent. I don’t understand why all the salsa’s are so sweet. The inside of the restaurant was nice, good music bright they were definitely trying to catch the eyes of the younger crowds, but they were smart to sell liquor to keep the older crowds coming in.
