Was back in Crystal Lake and stopped in. A favorite treat back when my family lived locally. Been a fan of Julie Ann's for over 20yrs. It hasn't lost a step. Still has the highest quality ingredients and most creative frozen custard creations anywhere.

One of our favorite dessert spots in Crystal Lake. Never had something here I didn’t like a whole lot, but the Cap’n Crunch Caramel concrete is the best item on the menu, and I will fight anyone that says otherwise!

Vegan custard? Heck yes! This place is dangerous know that I know about it. Gentleman was super helpful and informative regarding vegan options. The vegan peppermint Julie Ann bar is out of this world.

The Young staff could care more. We came in for dairy free and the order taker gave zero effort into finding the dairy free menu, I had to pull it up on my phone and I explained I wanted the strawberry and nuts concrete mixer, i was served the Sunday and when I told the girl I wanted the concrete mixer she told me to get back in line (long line, you guys get busy) and get a refund and reorder. I'm sorry WHAT. They did not care from Start to finish i couldn't belive it.

Shakes and Frozen Custard (ice cream) is fairly decent. Staff are extremely rude and don’t greet you. They seem to expect you to “know” what you want and don’t make any recommendations. I tried several items, it’s ok but I do prefer “Inside Scoop” which isn’t too far away. If you’re looking for frozen custard then this is a decent option. If you’re looking for ice cream, give “Inside Scoop” a shot. Not bad for the area.

I don’t get the hype about this place. First and foremost the fact they pricing on nothing and it’s just a surprise when you order is a total joke. The price are very very high compared to all other custard and ice cream places. Also the menu itself is all over the place. The custard itself is ok, I did not think it was anything special. The fact their smallest size is a medium in most other places doesn’t make sense. Tried to order a true small concrete I was told that was for kids only and this was what a small really is another places. This was a one and done for me!!

Two sides: On the positive amazing custard, the flavor and creaminess is delicious. There are many options an all are really flavorful. On the negative, the cashier (Grace if I’m not mistaken) just makes you want to turnaround, she was rude barely answering and expecting me, the customer, to know all details on how to order. I saw her doing it to at least 3 different customers + me, better attitude would make the experience 5 times better
