This is my go to Thai place, try the crispy pad thai, very good and intersting dish you dont find at all thai places, baby bags are great as well although I think they may call them by a different name now, guessing someone got offended. I will say at times it can be hit or miss, owner had mentioned at one point touble finding cooks but overall the place is very good

Overly salted Thai food that was too expensive and lack luster in flavor. Would not recommend and quite confused about the good reviews.

Good drunken noodles and basil chicken. Flat noodles were nice and spicy, wish it had more veggies though.

If you're in search of tasteless and overpriced food, look no further, this will be your place!!!On my first and last visit, I decided to play it safe and ordered pad kee mao (drunken noodles), but to my disappointment, it was incredibly poorly prepared. The portion size was small, mostly just oily noodles, the dish lacked flavor and spice, and they even charged an extra $3 for a few small pieces of beef. I could have easily replicated the same taste by tossing flat noodles in oil, and for a fraction of the cost.Approach other reviews with caution, as they might reflect the preferences of an older generation who tend to enjoy more bland cardboard-like food.

Don’t let all the tables and chairs fool you, you cannot ‘dine-in’ at this place. After struggling to open the extremely heavy front door while the owner watched me struggle from the counter, I almost gave up because I thought they were closed. It took another muscly male patron to get a hernia opening said door for me to actually get inside. I sat down at a table only to be abruptly told by the man working that there was ‘no dine in’ service. I gestured toward the 4 or 5 sets of empty tables and asked what all those tables were for? I was told those were for ‘weddings’. So I guess if you have an entire wedding reception with only 8 to 10 guests you would be welcome to dine in. I asked if it was okay for me to sit and wait for the friend I was meeting so we could go someplace else and he repeated ‘no dine in!’ I’d also like to add that their website states that you can ‘Eat delicious food. Grab a drink. But most of all, relax!’ To me, relaxing means sitting down. Not running back and forth to my car in the rain and still being hungry. My friend arrived and luckily a large, strong man was leaving so we were able to get out and head to Thai First (also in Downer’s Grove) where we felt welcome and had the best Thai Food ever. I don’t want to knock the food at Thai Cafe, because years ago we were actually able to dine in and I remember the food being good, but it’s been awhile, hence the 3 stars.

I got pad Thai, Penang curry, chicken satay, and the crab Rangoon. The pad Thai was good, not much to it. The Penang was really tasty, very coconutty and soupy. I added broccoli and carrots for $3 more. The chicken satay was good, the chicken didn’t have a crazy amount of flavor on its own, and the crab rangoons were not good. They needed to be fried more, and the filling was just ok. Overall it’s pretty good and the customer service is good too. Definitely worth trying
