We googled this place as we drove back home from the airport.We got pleasantly surprised.The location is really good. Free street parking and conveniently located in Elmhurst downtown.Ramen was great. We got chicken ramen, chicken spicy and pork. The three were quite good.Great value. We paid $105 for 5, included 1 beer and 1 glass of wine.

The food is good but the service really brings the rating down. The waitress forced me to tip when she did the bare minimum- if that. Then she made a face and snatched the cash out of my hand and walked away without saying thank you. Every time I do takeout they mess up my order.

We could've just gone on an off day but my partner got the Original Tonkatsu ramen and it was very bland and the noodles were too soft. The ramen egg however was very good. The fried rice was also very average, was Chinese fried rice rather than Japanese. Sushi was decent, no complaints there. Very expensive for a very average to poor meal experience.

It's great when you find a restaurant with good food; it's even BETTER when you are greeted and served by some of the most lovely people. Sue has really made Kan Ya an enjoyable and great atmosphere for me everytime that I stop to get food. She always smiles and is ready to serve you with much care and attentivenes. She is constantly checking in on you and making sure that everything is going well. I am grateful for Sue--stay kind!!!!

It’s unfortunately that I had to part ways with this place. This was my go to ramen place in the suburbs. But every time I come back, its getting worst and worst. From service to food to broth! You cannot play around with the broth. That’s what makes the ramen! Makes me feel like the place is getting sabotaged but hopefully not.

Honestly I have eaten here a couple of times before and have enjoyed it. It’s obviously not the best ramen but it’s good and close by. The service is also usually good. Tonight I went to get some dinner and wanted to try the dumplings. I was in shock when I bit into one of them and realized it didn’t taste right… the pork inside was RAW. R A W… I felt sick to my stomach, my waitress was hiding but one lady was nice enough to give me my refund, sad to write this review but hope it never happens again…I personally won’t be returning here but thanks kan ya for the other experiences… please do better.

I used to really love this place, always had great food and maybe today was just a bad day. I ordered my food over the phone, for pickup. The cashier told me it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I arrived, about 20 minutes after placing my order, so I expected a bit of a wait for my food, not a problem. I ended up having to wait an extra 15 minutes which normally would not bother me, but someone had walked in, sat down and was served within 10 minutes of being there. I asked one of the workers if my food was about to be ready, as I had to get back to work, I think the server realized I had witnessed the other person being served, while I had already been waiting for my food for 30+ minutes. The kitchen definitely looked backed up, which I understand, but witnessing someone walk in and sit down and be served within 10 minutes of being there, after I had been waiting for 30 minutes already was a bit frustrating. However, the staff is very friendly and I tipped because they are so kind there. I then went back to work to eat my food, which unfortunately wasn’t very good at all. I ordered the veggie ramen with seasoned eggs. The main thing I could stomach were the eggs, everything else in the dish tasted like chemicals and like it hadn’t been washed. I unfortunately am not able to finish my dish, which is unlike me because I love this place, but the overwhelming flavor of the unwashed vegetables is overpowering the dish.

The only reason I chose to give this restaurant a two star rating is because of the service. The food was very good. We ordered the chicken fried rice and sushi and it was honestly honestly very good. The service was very poor. The waitress was very rude and didn’t even come by one time to ask us if we need a drink on refills or if our food is good. We asked for a few extra things like sauces, and it seemed like a big hassle for her to have to get us some extra sauce.

Have been here many times, food is good. I am posting this to warn others that their hours are not accurate and they still allow you to place online orders. They did not update their holiday hours and were closed but allowed me to place an online order for pickup. Order was never confirmed and I had to manually cancel it in order to get a refund since I prepaid. I’d advise the owners to keep business hours up to date via google business manager and for customers to call before placing an order just to confirm.

The food was really good! The Gyoza was what can be expected and so was the ramen. The sushi, however, was reallly good! Def recommend their sushi. The Thai tea was also good. Service was good as well, could’ve been better. Atmosphere was good too! It wasn’t busy too.Parking: There was parking however it is a bit of a walk because it is in front of a Walgreens.
