We came here randomly and boy was it a GREAT decision! The food was amazing

One of our favorite restaurants! We were bringing friends from out of town and we were raving about this place. So we were sad to see the sign when walking in that they were closing. And because of that, they didn't have half the items on the menu and even fewer of their specialty drinks. Our guests had a hard time finding something available that they could eat. There was also some kind of sale going on in a portion of the restaurant that elevated the noise levels greatly. A very disappointing dining experience.

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Fool me twice, this place is a joke of an establishment, I honestly have no idea how it's still open but I'm not surprised we were the only couple there for dinner.. Front of house is nonexistent. If you enjoy long waits for jewel Osco style salad bar food then have your feast.Someone call James beard foundation. I'm embarrassed I told friends to come here.

Food was pretty good, but service could have been better. We were there on a Saturday night and there was one young woman waiting on the entire restaurant. She did a really good job, especially considering she was handling every single table and playing hostess. However, this led to us standing around upon walking in and waiting for the hostess and slightly slow service, but more importantly - it was really strange to see 3 people working at the bar - two of which were on their phones for nearly the entire time we we were there. Even when you could tell we needed something, because we were looking in their direction. I don't understand why the bar was over staffed, and wasn't helping out in the dining room? At one point, I walked to the bathroom and walked by a worker on their phone, who didn't even look up. We might give it another try in hopes this was a fluke, but I would really like to see the service balanced - and have some of the bar workers helping out on the floor.

Group of 4 dining on Saturday night. First 3 things we ordered were “unavailable”. The food we got was good, just wasn't our first choice. The place was eerily quiet by 8:30, which is not a good sign on a weekend night. Hoping it was just an off night, but not sure we'll be back.

I usually do not ever rate restaurants poorly, but the food was just so subpar in our opinion. It wasn’t awful, but just not that great. Maybe we went at a not so good time. Not sure. The service was good though.

The food was delish, especially the pork belly buns! Our waitress was very, good, too. She was friendly, responsive and did a great job engaging me and my young son. We'll be back!

What a fun lively place!! Toro as always exceptional ? The salmon and hamachi sushi was amazing, unlike any I've ever tasted outside of Chicago. A joyous and delicious evening

I'd like to give a higher rating, and would if I were evaluating only the food. We sat down at 7:05, we each ordered a cocktail and didn't get them for 40 minutes. The server told us they have a "new bartender". It was absolutely unacceptable. We got one drink after forty minutes, the others came about 10 minutes later. Some of us ordered Sushi, and we got all the rolls but none of the Nigiri. We didn't see the server for awhile and when we asked about the rest of the food she asked what we ordered. I could go on, but there's no point. It was like the Keystone Cops in there. The service was horrendous.

Service was very slow. After being seated it took 30 minutes for anyone to ask if we'd been helped. We were never asked if we would like a second drink. I had to ask about the nagiri I ordered after our other dishes had arrived. The menu has two starters they call "buns". Since this is an Asian restaurant, we assumed they were Asian buns. What arrived were basically sliders. The main dishes were all very pricey.

Had one of the best meals and dining experiences in my whole life. The chefs create incredible dishes and expand on the traditional recipes. The owner is wonderful and the entire staff makes sure your whole experience is a memorable one.

We had a good experience. I was with a party of 11. The food was very good and the portion sizes are large, borderline excessive in some cases. The service was good. They have a full bar and were able to accommodate all of our drink requests. Asian style cuisine, including sushi, noodle dishes, etc. With 11 people, alcohol and food the bill before tip was under $300, which wasn’t too bad considering the quality and quantity of food.

After having a horrible experience the first time coming here (which we gave a pass due to it being the Elmhurst block party), we decided to come for a celebratory dinner last night. Got a babysitter and decided to do an early 6pm dinner on a Tuesday, since there was no way it could be bad on an off night right? Wrong...in fact it may have been a worse experience since we didn't even get to finish dinner.First I want to say that the waitress we had was great and this is no fault of hers whatsoever, it just seems like this place is so mismanaged and really needs some help from a service perspective. We sat down at our table and the first thing we noticed was that the 4 wine glasses were completely filthy (keep in mind this place has a wine list with some bottles topping $1k). Wasn't planning on drinking but decided to get an Asahi considering we were at an Asian fusion restaurant but after ordering we were told that of the 10 beers on the menu, they only had Guinness and Heineken. Not the end of the world, but also another strange thing for a "high end" restaurant to have happen. Next we decided to put a California roll appetizer in, and then ordered the rest of our meal about 10 min later. We ordered two specialty sushi rolls and a few sides (rice, noodles). 10 min later the rice and noodles came out, but still no California roll. We ended up eating the sides because they were going to get cold otherwise. We continued to wait at least 30 min with little to no updates before deciding to just ask for the check and leave. You would think that a restaurant positioning itself as a high end establishment would put more focus on the actual service rather than the decor. The owner was there when we walked in and then must have left and was nowhere to be seen after we sat down. I thought the Elmhurst block party night was an anomaly, but it turns out the rest of the reviews on here are true. Unfortunately we will never be back.

This restaurant was very good. Service was great, and they had a nice varied drink menu as well as wines and sake. Everyone at the table loved their food. We had beef, scallops, sushi rolls including a vegetarian option. I think it is not getting its due as an excellent restaurant option in the suburbs. It is in downtown Elmhurst which provides neighborhood ambiance as well. I recommend trying Mata Ne!

We were greeting as soon as we arrived by the hostess and was immediately sat at our table. Cindy was our server and she was very prompt in taking care of my wife and I. They were out of the bottle of wine we selected but the sommelier made a suggestion of another white and it was great !! The food was exceptional!! We had the crispy rice wagu tartare and the paradise sushi roll for appetizer. Both were great !! We split the Chilean sea bass and it was Great as well. The only bummer was that they had ran out of the key lime. But that's ok, we have already made reservations over Memorial Day weekend to return and hopefully the will have it then !!
