I Asked for currie chicken without spicy.. Soon as I got home and started eating the chicken lit my mouth up ? ????I simply can't taste the food with all that hot spicy going on..The food was good but with all the spices I can't eat here again ?

the food is great, but they are always late or closed anytime i want to order. i work in the area so convenience is a major factor in where i dine for my lunch breaks. it sucks that i can't really rely on this place because they are definitely one my of favorites in the area.

I'm convinced restaurants just don't care anymore. How difficult is it to cook yams and cabbage both were the worst I've ever had. Yams undercooked, gritty and plain nasty. Cabbage overcooked, dark and no flavor. The chicken taste like j*** sauce out of a jar but at least I could eat it. Threw the rest in the garbage $36 wasted.

None of these restaurants in nearby Evanston and Chicago that cooks Jamaican food taste good, Small portions for big bucks. Food lack authenticity, no spices, no island taste. I'm beginning to wonder if it's Jamaicans cooking these foods. I love my Jamaican food but I'm not spending my money for salt and pepper food.

I flew into to Chicago for work from Boston and need what Nigerians call “REAL FOOD”. Found this place on Google and they did not disappoint. Tender oxtails, j*** shrimp. Two bottles of ting to was it down. This is “REAL FOOD”

I think this place needs a little more love. The food was amazing! One large "plate" was enough to feed two hungry people. The snapper was nicely seasoned and the onion had a good spiciness to it. Everything tasted fresh and hot. I do wish we got more plantains because they were really good. Had a little crunch on the edges which I enjoyed. Ox tails were fall off the bone tender <3

Whether it’s the j*** shrimp, rice and peas and greens with turkey, j*** pork and mac and cheese, or the honey butter cornbread there are plenty of reasons to visit this restaurant over and over again. The owners are two hardworking individuals who strive for a positive customer experience and deliver every time. It is worth the drive from anywhere in the Chicago area. You will not be disappointed!

This food is amazing. I would travel FAR just to come here. I got the curry chicken with rice & beans and candied yams. I want those yams every day!! The owners are so lovely. The service is on point and they are so kind.

Best J*** Chicken I've had in the Chicagoland area! Great prices, huge portions and the J*** chicken is absolutely spot on. Very well seasoned, spicy and chicken is juicy. Worth the hike up to Evanston(if you're from the city) to come get some J*** Chicken here.

This was our first time and probably last time visiting, we ordered the J*** chicken and the Oxtail dinners. I was not impressed, the chicken was okay and the oxtail was tender but very little for the price. I also ordered mac & cheese but when we got home, saw that they gave us cabbage instead of telling us. The price was almost $50 for these two dinners. The actual service was very good, they were very polite and the location was clean and there was room to sit.

I've tried this place 3x and each time something was wrong. 1st order was the curry chicken (because they ran out of j*** chicken) and it was salty as hell. 2nd order was a half white j*** dinner and I received 1/4 white and 1/4 dark instead of the half white meat that I ordered. I went back yesterday because I was really hungry and got the half white j*** dinner. This time I got all white as ordered but it was salty as hell and over seasoned with whatever cheap j*** sauce they use. I did however get a full refund for the 3rd order.I'm sorry but 3 strikes and you're out! I won't refer this place to anybody because it's not worth the hefty price for such horrible food.

Tried this place out of curiosity and while it was worth trying, I will never be coming back. It's just hard to justify $20 for chicken and rice which is the cheapest meal on the menu- not ideal. Cost aside, the chicken was super flavorful and packed a big punch. The 1/2 chicken option featured white and dark meat and was plenty of food for one meal. I got the mac and cheese as my side and it was average, as were the rice and beans. Everything was very spicy so if you can't tolerate spicy food, it might be a struggle for you at da j*** pit. For reference, there is little seating inside and is primarily a takeout place as evident with their use of styrofoam containers for us who sat inside. Overall, da j*** pit isn't bad and the food is quite good. Just not something I would go out of my way for.

Go check Da Her Out out I promise you will not leave disappointed. Prices are good but the food is better. Mac & Cheese is some of the cheesiest I've ever had and it's so delicious. Staff is always polite & food is always fresh.
