I can’t rate the food because I didn’t get any even though I tried really hard. This place has been open in our neighborhood for a bit and I see why people are warning against it after visiting. We tried to go tonight (March 18th, 2024) but walked in…twice…and couldn’t get the two people working to even look up because they were both super into whatever they were looking at on their phones. We walked to the counter, lingered and said “excuse me” both times and finally walked out before trying one more time and saying “are you open?!” from the front door and still nothing. The woman finally looked up as we yelled across the restaurant but didn’t stand up so we decided to go somewhere else. The tables are spaced like it was four years ago the beginning of Covid. There were no other patrons, so I get they were entertaining themselves on their phones, but at least face the door. Have your head on the swivel. Try to do the basic part of your job. If you’re interested go now, I can’t imagine they’ll be open much longer.

This is a legit taqueria, something North Evanston has been in need of forever. I feel badly that I waited so long to try the food (from the name I assumed it was Americanized Mexican/fusion). Don't make the same mistake. The food is traditional and well made by very attentive and authentic owners. I can't speak to the burgers (haven't tried them), but the Burritos, tacos, and flautas are all solid, the salsa's are excellent, and the Mexican fries are crisp and tasty. Great service too.

Trying not to be too harsh but the taco burger was ok, meat was tasty bun mediocre. Fries hot. Spare decor. Prices a little steep relative to food.

We walked by and thought we'd try the place. A fairly large space with tables generously spaced.Parking: Paid street parking is available. Free parking around the corner.

The best tacos in the North Evanston area. I'd buy their salsas in bulk if they sold them too. It's one of my family's go-to take out spots.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Enjoyed a delightful experience at Famous Taco Burger in Evanston! The tacos were a highlight, bursting with flavor and freshness. While the Spanish rice and red beans didn't quite match my taste preferences, the inviting ambiance and friendly, fast service won me over. A solid choice for those craving a quick and tasty Mexican bite. ??? #TacoDelight #FriendlyService #AmbianceWin

lovely service lovely music lovely taco burger, never had a taco burger before but now i will definitely have it again in the future. also lots of fries options and they were the good type of fries not the typical fast food fries. also the place itself was modernized and up to date.

This place makes tacos that reminds me of $1 taco trucks from Texas. But the price here is not a dollar. The tacos are good but one taco does not equate to nearly $4. I recently got a deal thru Uber eats for buy 1 get 1 and that to me is a more solid deal.Unfortunately one thing that has been consistent is that you get a super small serving of chips for a large amount of dip. Like I got a about 12 chips for a huge container of pico de Gallo. Granted the chips are home made as well as the pico. But it's a shame you can enjoy all the dip as you run out of chips almost immediately especially if you are sharing.Aside from this, I enjoy this addition to central street and they have big competition with the Fat Shallot across the street. I hope they can make it here.

I ate there right after they opened, got a turkey burger that was pretty good. I haven't tried anything else. What mostly bugs me about this place, and I really don't understand why they haven't changed that, is the lack of atmosphere. It feels like like a hospital cafeteria in there. The previous restaurant did such a nice job, but here you just have tables and chairs. I don't think that's going to work long-term.Add some art work, invest in some nicer tables/chairs, add some decorations play some music for el amor de Dios! And maybe offer some unique drinks too, ice tea etc.

First, this restaurant has probably the cleanest bathroom I've ever encountered in a restaurant. The tacos are chock-full of meat and authentic. The burger is also tasty, as are the fries, and one night we had the Chile Rellenos special which were very good. Don't miss the peanut butter milkshake!
