We LOVE Union and eat here all the time. This week my brother, who has celiac, was visiting. They were so accommodating, and he said it's the best pizza he's had since he was diagnosed and that he'll be dreaming about coming back again. Pizza was really good, but I wouldn't say it's quite Detroit style, as only the edges were a bit crispy. Traditional Detroit style is usually crispy on the sides and bottom, pretty much the entire exterior, while the center is nice and fluffy.But, for Chicago, this was one of my top 3 favorites.

I got carryout here, but thought I would still give it a rating because I thought this place was excellent with just a few hiccups. I ordered the pizzas online for later pickup. The ordering online went generally well, but I kind of wished that there was a better way to just order a custom pizza. I know I could have probably called in, but I used the online tool and got what I wanted: Simple Peperoni Pizza and a Simple Sausage (this is the one I had to trick the system). Anyway, picking up the pizza went perfectly which was awesome. It was ready on time and the pickup was seamless. No notes here. Just perfect. How as the pizza? I have had Detroit Style Pizza before and this was my absolute favorite. I think they might use better cheese and/or better sauce than a normal Detroit Style Pizza. The only downside I would say is the cost. These pizzas are quite expensive. Still, I mentioned that they were the best Detroit Style I have ever eaten so that sticker shock was short lived. If you make a pizza like this, I could see you charging a little more. This also seems to be a bit of a small Evanston business so its always nice to support them! In short, expect to pay a little more than you want, but you will get a pizza much better than you expected!

This pizza is so so so good. I have one bit of heads up: IF you order online, and specifically order the SPECIAL pizza of the week online, call first to double check. I ordered the special once (sausage w mushrooms pesto etc etc) and "the wrong" pizza delivered (a pepperoni with Pineapple). When I called they said pepperoni was the special even though both their website (linked to Toast tab ordering) and uber eats described the special as Sausage. They were gracious about it and refunded me.

Unlike its sister venue this is strictly a pizza joint with drinks. And the pizza is Detroit style ie square hence the name. It's deep dish light. Nice crusty edges but not thick doughy crust. It's definitely a place to go if you're hungry. Huge portions except for the drinks. Service is amateur. Servers don't know how to check the room before they leave. Just basic front of the house training. Missing. And irritating. We had the sausage pepperoni pizza. Fresh tomatoes sauce generous cheese.

Went to have Detroit Styled Pizza (DSP). We sat outside in the beer garden. It was a nice night. We had the option to do a Half-n-half on the pizza. One half was the Classic Veggies and the other half was Sausage and Pepperoni Supreme. Both halves were "Delicious!" The tomato sauce was just right. Not too tangy and not too mild. This is now my new favorite place for DSP. We didn't order drinks I believe because they didn't have a full-service bar. The cost for the meal seemed reasonable. The size pizza my cousin and I ordered allowed us to have up to 4 slices each. I believe that the back area is wheelchair accessible. On Thursdays they have a Bocce Ball League.Parking: Use the "Park Evanston" App to pay for street parking. The area is a busy spot.

The best Detroit style pizza in town by a mile - and by town I mean all of Chicagoland... no competition until you drive the 5 hours east back to Detroit. The beer garden out back is awesome as well. Highly recommend to anyone who likes pizza, beer, or both... which is hopefully everyone.

Love this crispy Detroit style pizza. Being a New York boy, it reminds of Sicilian style rectangle slices. That's high praise compared to the the deep dish pizza piles that Chicagoan's think is just as good as east coast thin crust. Nope, it's not. Sorry I've tried. But this pizza was great and fun and proper chewy crispy. Outdoor seating on the back patio had a good vibe and great local beers to go with the food. Caesar salad was a tasty complement as well. Bacci ball courts looked fun, though I'm not personally interested.
