Glad to have them in the neighborhood. Their quesadillas are my favorite! The homemade chips are amazing. Staff is welcoming and friendly. The alcohol options are a bit limited...hoping that changes. Hoping to see some high end tequila options! I'm hoping their menu options expand in the future..current options are all delicious!

Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was from the fresh, right out of the fryer chips and fresh guacamole, to the El pastor taco with great flavor along with the Carne arsada taco. Looking forward to going back and trying more!

Walking in, you feel like you're entering into an old western with all the cool memorabilia around. As soon as you enter the doorway you are greeted by members of the Gomez family and staff and already feel like we are about to sit down at their dinner table. I was travelling with a 7 month old and they made all the necessary arrangements to make us comfortable. Once sitting you have the privilege of reading about their amazing story on the back of the menu which I would highly recommend.Now let's get to the food. Appetizers we started with the fresh made chips, the INCREDIBLE salsa and the Guac. I'm a taco guy all day everyday so I ordered all of the different tacos on the menu. My favorite has to be the Al Pastor with the pineapple.Drink wise I got the Habanero High Noon - hint of spicy with some amazing Mezcal.Overall experience, food, service, etc. was all on point. You can tell these guys make their food and drinks with love!So stop reading and get to Mijos - Our NEW Lake County gem!

We were greeted by friendly staff. Sit anywhere. This place is so cute and cozy. We had a fun, friendly waitress. The cocktail menu is creative. Drinks are well crafted with fresh, quality ingredients. I recommend their Margarita. We ordered Carneasada quesadilla and Chicken Taco special. (Taco Tuesday) It comes with rice and beans. Excellent homemade food! Taste explosion in my mouth! Even the rice and beans were delicious with their own unique flavors. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a meal at Mijo! Disclosure: I did not know these people, nor are they relatives. They are just super nice people, and I wish them well!

This my own personal review of the new Mexican restaurant ("MIJO'S") on Rt 12 where Diamond Deli used to be (across from McDonald's)Truly thee BEST Mexican food around here!!!Reasonably priced, food portions are abundant, best guacamole than anywhere (and I've been to them all), and great Margaritas!Oh, and also, they have this roasted chic pea deliciousness thing that I highly recommend!However, I really recommend they offer this as a side dish... because it's so good. We had to request it on the side so we could try it but they did not disappoint.What else can you ask for??? You have to try it!Vegetarian options: They have options ....mainly the chic peas...delish!
Picked up a Philly Cheese steak and taco tonight for us. The sandwich was big enough for two. We haven’t had one like this for years!!! It was wonderful, served with homemade potato chips.Met the husband and wife team who run this very cozy restaurant. We will definitely be back to eat in. Everyone there seemed very content.Was told gambling will be added too. They have drink specials and other homemade recipes to try. So nice to have a restaurant in Fox Lake that you can enjoy a nice dinner and a comfortable atmosphere. I suggest you eat in or pick up from here the next time you crave Mexican food! And if your like me you’ll start eating the take out on the way home. Wonderful, perfect size tacos!! Don’t pass Mijo up!!!!

The food is absolutely incredible! I went for their Taco Tuesday special, and the barbacoa tacos were incredible! I also had the flan, and it was creamy, delicious, and not overly sweet! I cannot recommend this place enough. The menu is small, but that shows that they are focusing on items that they know they do well! Cannot wait to go back!
