Wheat Cafe is an amazing student-run cafe that provides both good quality of food and an exceptional service.Recommend place to hangout with friends and family!

This is a student run cafe that requires pre-order and is only open for limited hours and dates. The menu and food are good, just takes some pre-planning to dine there.

There are two dining areas in the Culinary and Hospitality Center. Most--perhaps all--of the previously written reviews concern the formal dining area--Waterleaf. This review is about the quick-serve facility--Wheat Cafe. Like the Waterleaf this is a student-run/chef supervised operation. Cheap eats! Beautiful food! During my visit I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with Jalapeno-spiked Slaw and skinny skinny crispy crispy french fries. Wow! $5! One of my friends had the Texas Breakfast Wrap--$3. Another good value, but not as well presented as my sandwich. Another friend had the caramel chocolate tart--it was all I could do to not push her aside and eat it all by myself. Only $3! You order at a counter where you receive your beverage and then go into a small dining room, which was clean and bright. Since food is being cooked to order there is small, but easy, wait. The wait person was a little zealous about plate pick-up, but it was opening day and we were one of the first customers. Limited days (Tues and Wed), Limited hours (10:30 am-1:00 pm) Check the website for menu details.

We frequently go to the Wheat Cafe to celebrate birthdays. The food is superb, the service is excellent, and it is a good value. There are always fresh flowers on the table and white tablecloths, so it makes our luncheon feel special. I especially like the creative way the food is prepared and the desserts are always delicious.

A great moderate price restaurant with excellent foods and service. Also, the gorgeous lighting at front of Mac Art building is a bonus for you to walk around after dinner. Book reservation now because they are opened at very limited day.

I was looking forward to the Central Farmlands menu and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and so fresh. The portions were just the right serving size for a lunch so I was able to indulge in a dessert. The service was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to return for the Mid-Atlantic offering in December.

The beef stew was superb. The pumpkin cheesecake had a great crust and really good flavor. Kristopher (KC) provided excellent service. Overall, great place, great food, and great service.

Great food, well-prepared and beautifully arranged on plate. Usual ingredients but always with a surprise how they are married e.g. red sweet peppers in the beef stew. (I don't do that.) The stew was centered on a mashed potato ring . Wonderful presentation! The appetizer was a Wild Mushroom Tart. Absolutely delicious. The chef graciously shared the recipe when I asked. After reading the Basic Pate Dough part, I'll let him do it! The dessert held 3 parts-too many for me. I was so full already but I had to eat it!

I found this place to be very nice. It is small, so it's not load when you are there. The lunch is served and cooked by the COD students. You only have 2 choices for each course, but they both were very good. They seam to have different menus' about every 6 weeks, so I will be going to have another menu later this month. I'm looking forward to it. The price is great for the amount of food that you get.

I've been to a few different student run culinary restaurants so this was not my first experience with this concept. We did the pre fixe dinner. The waiter decided to forgo menus and he would instead explain the menu to us. We started with the spring roll with two sauces. No explanation of what the sauces were so I asked. His reply was I'll check with the chef. By the time he returned we had already finished the spring roll. If it wasn't for the honey mustard sauce it would have pretty bland. Second course Hot and Sour soup. Once again it really lacked flavor. I guess I was expecting it to equal what I've had at Chinese restaurants. For the salad course the waiter described two salad choices and he didn't get either description correct. I ordered the chopped salad. What a huge disappointment 3 tiny pieces of avocado, a little tomato, green onion, lettuce and tiny amount of blue cheese. For the main course I had the open face portabella sandwich. Finally an item that had some flavor! The vegetables were nicely grilled and seasoned. The potato side dish was also quite good. This was the highlight of the meal. We had two desserts to choose from. Once again the waiter didn't describe either dessert correctly. I had the crème puff that was suppose to contain a whipped cream and strawberry center with a chocolate drizzle. It wasn't whipped cream but instead it was ice cream inside with no strawberries or chocolate drizzle. If this had been the first couple of weeks of service I could understand but this was at the end of the spring session. The food was average at best and the service was mediocre.

We have been to the Wheat Cafe several times, generally to celebrate a birthday, and found it first rate in every way. The food is delicious, the surroundings lovely, and the service excellent. I particularly like having fresh flowers on the table to make the experience feel more special.

Wheat cafe is a favorite - the food is always good and imaginative - we especially like the vegetable sandwiches and roasted pepper potato salad. Value is good, and its a great way to support up and coming chefs. The dining room is very attractive with a pleasant view, and the pace of service is just right.

Service, food and noise level were excellent. The portions were just the right size with so many courses, we were there for dinner. While dining I suddenly realized how pleasantly quiet it was though all patrons were conversing. Highly recommend! Students were true professionals!

Our lunch was delicious! One enjoyed the beef stew; other enjoyed the chicken entrée. The beef barley soup and the arugula salad were very good. I enjoyed the wild rice and fruited sauce served with the chicken. Both of enjoyed the delicious tiramusi and biscotti. Service was excellent. The servers worked together very well, providing assistance to other servers when needed. Other servers cleared items from our table and refilled water glasses when our server was busy helping others. Our server was professional, attentive and personable. Just a note.....servers could be more courteous and serve the women at a table before serving the men.
