Food was great. Traditional Korean food. (Pot stickers was not that great. Very thin)The place itself is very small and they have packed way too many chairs into this place. No elbow space. They would only seat you if your entire party is there. We were 5. But there isn't really a place for us to wait without being right on top of some other diners tables. A bit awkward.

I ordered soft tofu stew to eat with my kids for dinner, but when I got home and opened it, there was just one piece of udon in the kimchi soft tofu. That's not what you're supposed to go in, right? It felt like it was mixed with someone else's leftovers, so I couldn't eat it because it was so unpleasant. I tried to call and talk, but the call went to an automatic answering machine and then hung up.

Was recommended by a coworker and omg was she right. This place is so good on a cold rainy day or even in winter. The food hits the spot all the time. The seafood pancake is BOMB. Service is always so friendly and fast.

This is a good place to eat authentic Korean food, but for me, it is by no means the 'Best' Korean place. For one, there is no BBQ grill on the table: everything is cooked in the kitchen. However, I may be a unique customer, because I recently moved from my home of 27 years in Los Angeles, back to Chicago (but not really Chicago proper, because I am now living, due to circumstances, in McHenry County). Los Angeles has the largest Korean population outside of Korea, so I cannot deem to compare my experiences there with any attempt at offering Korean food in Glenview. With that in mind, 'SGD Dubu So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ', located in a Glenview strip-mall is an amazing Korean restaurant, offering dishes that are both authentic and accessible to an American pallet. In my humble former Angelino opinion, I think that the prices here are a little high, and the menu is a bit narrow, with maybe three or four different meat preparations offered in different sets, making the menu appear to offer 20 or more different meals. This is a trickster move, but maybe the folks of Glenview won't stray from those 3-4 meats (Galbee, Bulgogi, Dak Galbee (grilled chicken), and Mando (meat stuffed dumplings). 'SGD Dubu So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ' is a franchise restaurant chain from South Korea, with hundreds of branches throughout Asia and the World, including more than a dozen in the United States. So I have to believe that 'SGD Dubu So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ' knows what it's doing. And the customer base proves this. My girlfriend and and I arrived at an off-hour and we still had to wait 10 minutes for a table. The service was excellent: our waiter spoke fluent English (a rarity) and when I asked for some special Korean condiments he brought them to me right away (as they clearly had them waiting for their Korean-only customers). Our meals were delicious, and, unknown to most Americans, 'SGD Dubu So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ' will refill your clear soup as if it were soda or tea. I had a great time here - and when we left, the restaurant was packed, with nearly half of the customers being white Glenview folk. So, putting all of my self-superior Korean-Angelino opinions aside, this is a great, American-friendly Korean eatery that is paving the way for common Americans to snuggle up to authentic Korean food without having to eat fermented fish of cow intestines. I applaud 'SGD Dubu So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ' for this. BUT, 'SGD Dubu So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ' is missing a seriously important customer base: Hispanics. In Los Angeles, on the weekends, the largest ethic group of customers dining at Korean meat restaurants other than Koreans, were Hispanic families: huge crowds and tables full with Hispanic families. For every white couple there were five Hispanics. The only problem is - the Hispanic community will never go for the inflated price point. They're too smart for that.

When I come to Glenview, I think of soft tofu, a food I keep reaching for, so I ate too much today again. The food is delicious, but the kindness and service of the staff makes me feel good. The first restaurant I wanted to go to was Sogongdong Soft Tofu.
