“I was in town for a conference and I went to Food Network for some recommendations and this restaurant popped up. I was not disappointed the ribs and pulled pork were really great. The sauces were really good and the atmosphere was so friendly and just down home. I love the option of eating indoors or outdoor. Great place if you are a visitor. And a lot of locals recommended this place.“
“Bogarts 4.5/5 Sugarfire 0/5 Pappy's 5/5 Bogarts has pastrami which we didn't see anywhere else, so we tried that. Very good! The ribs are also very good but Pappy's is just a tad better. Bogarts was a little more difficult to get to via public transportation, but it's doable. We came at 3 (they close at 4) on a weekday and it was empty. Same coleslaw as Pappy's (we were told they have the same owner) which is vinegar base with cabbage and apple. Great compliment to the rich bbq. I did need some sauce on the ribs here and there but nothing close to Sugarfire (tough and dry).“
“Price was reasonable, delivery was on time, they were extremely kind, worked with us in a helpful, respectful, and timely manner, to provide delicious, professionally presented, consistently boxed and well made quality boxed lunches at a reasonable price. People told me the sandwiches and salads were both delicious. From the owner, to the coordinator, to the delivery person, everyone was respectful and went above and beyond. They are a great business to work with and I would highly recommend for any event where you need boxed meals to be catered and delivered with quality and care. Our original venue closed the doors and we were left 5 months before the wedding without a venue. They were so willing to help and work with us during this time. “Pasta House catered our wedding, and they did an amazing job!!! They made the whole day a breeze! The food was delicious and we had plenty of leftovers!!! My husband and I wanted ice cream for dessert. They placed the order with Ted Drewes, picked it up, and brought it to the venue. They even let my baker bring the cake to them the day of, and they handled it from there. The bar was awesome!! The drinks were delicious and ll the staff from serves to bartenders were so friendly! Our wedding was at the World's Fair Pavillion which has some stricted guidelines/rules which we were worried about. Pasta House took care of all of it and didn't let us worry once about it. They were a dream to work with and I would recommend them to everyone for a delicious and stress free wedding or event!!!“

Tried the apple holly pocket and it was delicious so I am definitely trying the peach one next. I ordered two days in a row and had my family place a big order. They loved the food as well. My go to is the camerones al diablo (well, currently, anyways) and I have decided that between the quesadilla and the torta, the torta wins. It's the grilled bread with crispy cheese edges and idk how they do it but this is a sandwich that keeps me coming back for more.I've been coming to this place formerly known to myself and others affectionately as The Taco Stand for over a couple decades! It seriously used to be a one room shack on the corner of California and Cherokee. Now the enlarged building multiplies its size by at least 10! The outdoor patio on the corner is larger than the whole joint started out.It's now formatted so you order and seat yourself, which works out well as far as I can tell. And takeout is just as easy. IT DOES GET BUSY, so if you suspect you're in a time crunch you could always go to another spot nearby and grab Mexican at a (potentially) less busy spot.ALL of the Mexican restaurants on Cherokee have great items on their menus and and it's worth exploring all of them to see what you like where. But basically La Vallesana is my go-to when I'm not being particular and maybe want to go be anonymous somewhere.The last thing I have to say about La Vallesana is that you might want to think about dessert first, so you can save room. When you enter, all the house made ice cream and aguas frescas like horchata are also not to be overlooked. Plan ahead.Saturdays seem to be busiest and I am here on a Tuesday after lunch rush, and there's still a steady flow of customers. 5 stars out of 5 here. Glad to support local growth and a minority owned business on Cherokee Street.“

“Went to a wedding tasting for my nephew. It's an old church converted to event space and a restaurant. We had a table set up for us in the middle of the redesigned cafeteria. It was a beautiful table set with a very eclectic mix of dinnerware. Really cute. The tasting consisted of two appetizers, two salads, two entrees and two sides. Everything that we tasted was delicious. goat cheese and duxelles on toast, shrimp cocktail, chicken piccata, beef tenderloin, pasta with green peas and dill, green beans, mashed potatoes and wine. The chef who prepared the food brought it out and explained it all to us. Very impressive. The menu has a large variety of choices. If you are planning a wedding, the space includes a chapel, bride and groom dressing areas and a lounge upstairs. It is a very cool space. The people were super nice and explained everything to us. What a nice evening. Nestled in the cute Holly Hills neighborhood. I highly recommend!“
