Well, it's a truck stop, so asking about the atmosphere seems unfair google... the Italian beef actually sucks at pops (sorry but bread that turns to slimy goo when auju'd is gross). But the gyros are good and other menu items are good. The service is ok, never particularly rude here, but definitely obvious no one works at a truck stop location as their first choice in employment.

Hi, I got dinner 2/25/24 at 6:05pm at the pop"s beef on 2401 s chicago st joliet, Illinois, 60436. I contacted a manager on 02/05 to voice my concern on my bbq beef samdwich. It was horrible. The only bbq was on the bun. None on the beef. The bun was soggy. I asked the manager about this. He said that is the way they make them. I said I don't understand everywhere else has the bbq sauce all on the meat. He said thats the way it is. All he could do is give me a coupon. I told him no. I won't be back to his location ever again. I've gotten a bad fish sandwich before. My boyfriends gyro plate only had small end pieces of meat. Pretty disappointing. This is very close to my house, but won't go back to it. It gives pops beef a bad name. The employees act like they don't care. I go to other local pops beef and the food is great.
