Great food and run by the sweetest little lady. The atmosphere is very humble and cozy, it felt like I had walked into someone’s home and had myself a good home cooked meal. The portions were a nice size and they don’t skimp on the sauce!Vegetarian options: You can add tofu instead of meat

There are several great asian restaurants in La Grange, and most are pretty high end.Yau's Place is on the opposite end of the spectrum, but in a quaint kind of way. This is a hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop restaurant, run by a family that charmingly puts zero effort into creating an ambiance. I seriously say that with affection. This isn't a place you'd want to bring a date, but if you just want some good, cheap, fast chicken fried rice (or whatever your favorite Chinese dish is), I'd recommend it.Just be prepared to have a little "uhh.... are you open?" type of reaction when you walk in.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this mom & pop shop really does feel like home cooked food. It was not greasy like other Chinese places & food was well seasoned. We got the dinner for two which came with tons of fried apps like shrimp, shrimp roll, egg roll & crab Rangoon w fried rice, cashew chicken & Mongolian beef (my favorite). I also got wonton soup (which was delish), Thai tea & a side of white rice. I like that they have both Chinese (including Cantonese) & Thai dishes. Service was quick & efficient & the place was very comfortable & homey. The owners said the place has been open 19 years. Glad we finally checked it out as it’s some of the best Chinese food we’ve had near our area and very affordable! Will definitely return.

WOW! What an unexpected GEM of a place we stumbled upon while killing time while daughter finished Volleyball practice.Homemade pan fried pot stickers are a MUST, but every dish (Mongolian beef, beef with broccoli and pad Lard Nar) deliciously flavorful. Wife even ate an egg roll and raved about it ... she hates egg rolls. Absolutely check this place out.

Absolutely delicious food. The wrappers on the pot stickers and the crab ragoon were delicate and crispy. The sauce was so good, I could have eaten it with a spoon. The pad thai was a medley of flavors. Everything was served quickly but properly paced. The entrees did not come out until we were done with the appetizers. All in all a perfect experience.

I've been a regular at Yau's since I was little and my parents would take me to the owner's original restaurant in the city. So glad they are in the suburbs now. Great place for Thai/Chinese! Family owned for more than 40 years. You can taste their love through food and they are just the nicest couple. Service was inviting when the dining room was open. Since the pandemic, they are now only take out. But don't let that discourage you from ordering! Some favorites from Yau's is the fried smelt, that's lightly fried and has a delicious house sauce. The chicken satay and crab rangoon are always a must. Though, I think the crab rangoon is one of the best in the area. It's seasoned right, and not overly sweet or just a glob of flavorless cream cheese in the middle. The pad woon sen (glass noodle salad) is made of bean thread noodles, fresh red onion, cilantro, and tender ground pork. The house dressing is spicy and sour and great to eat as a lettuce wrap. The Thai friend rice with tender shrimp is epic! Don't get this confused with Chinese fried rice either. The Thai fried rice is seasoned differently and the rice is white compared to rice with soy sauce. It. Is. So. Good. My FAVORITE is the Lad Na beef. The beef is extra tender, the gravy is so flavorful and not salty, the wide rice noodles are crispy and tender, and the Chinese broccoli is steamed perfectly. Made authentically just like when I'm in Thailand. I see a lot of other Thai restaurants adding all kinds of veggies like carrots, mushrooms, and baby corn as a filler to bulk up and skimp out on the noodles and protein.

Food was great, fresh ingredients. Friendly couple. The restaurant gives a “it’s almost as if they invited you into their home of dinner”. With everything being strictly business I’m not going to lie eating here was pretty peaceful. Also they have lots of plants which is really nice. The was eating and the lady kept starring at me to make sure everything was ok lol here I am boogers falling because my noodles are spicy and a mouth full of food lol but I knew that was her way of communication so it didn’t bother me. I smiled and kept enjoying my food. For the DIVA who said they’re rude…there’s a difference between rude and not knowing how to communicate in our language. So relax missy and cut them some slack.Vegetarian options: Noodles with veggies and white rice

Have ordered from Yau's a few times and it's a local favorite. I really like the Panang Curry with chicken!

One of the better places in the western suburbs for both Chinese and Thai food. Higher quality than others. Not sure if they are allowing indoor dining again, they hadn't for at least a few years since the pandemic started (we only order to go). Consistently good.

We ordered food. Went to pick it up and nobody was in the parking lot. Should have been a sign. She told me over the phone that the crab Rangoon comes with 6 pieces and we got 4. The lo mein was not normal lo mein and the the fortune cookies were stale. First time here and probably the last time.
