Chicago style food is probably the one type of grub that never ever gets old on me and I'm constantly in the mood for it.I know for some folks out there that as soon as they see the big V logo sign for Vienna Beef or the Red Hot Chicago that it's "meh, just another Chicago style grill and they're all the same."This past January on a rainy Friday night, my family & I were in the area gettin' out of Lake Bluff and I was in the mood for a good gyros sandwich. My wife loves gyros as well and I figured we've never been here before so why not. I'm actually glad I stopped in being I loved the taste of the gyros, the Chicago dog and the world class fresh cut fries.Max"s is a gem in Libertyville and the local residents should be happy to have it. I can only imagine this place gets swarmed during lunch hours in the middle of the work week with contractors, car dealership employees and oodles of takeout orders. With a competitor such as Portillo's which is extremely popular in the city and suburbs which I've had my fair share of, I'd rather eat here. Not aware of any Portillo's location at least not in Lake County that serves gyros or fresh cut fries. That's something that the owner(s) of Max's can be proud of and I'm always happy to support local. I'm getting that craving just by typing this, can't wait to head back to Max's Dawg House.Small but clean dining area with friendly service servin' up awesome Chicago eats at fair prices. Hope this place stays open for decades to come!

Max's Dawg House is an iconic place in Libertyville. The people there are amazing and the food is even better. Fantastic spicy sausage, amazing charred cheese dog and one of the best gyros anywhere. Oh, and by the way, freshly cut fries. Love this place.

My wife was craving hot dogs. So, we decided to try a new, to us, place. Food was OK. Service was fast and order was correct. I have a patty melt and tater tots. Wife had her hot dog and fried mushrooms. Wife decided she likes other places hot dogs better.

I just started a new job in the area and was looking to get a bite to eat nearby before my shift and tried Max's Dawg house. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with diverticulitis which means I can't really have buns with seeds anymore. The owner/manager was very nice when I entered. He was polite and answered my questions about if I could get a hamburger bun without seeds which I was. Honestly ever since I got diagnosed with diverticulitis I thought I could never go to a Chicago style restaurant again but I've never been happier to be wrong about something like that. Also their food is reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Tonight was my first time dining at Max's Dawg House on Milwaukee Ave in Libertyville. I'm thrilled to report that the double hotdog meal was excellent and the fresh-cut, home-made (REAL!) French Fries were perfectly done. I love French Fries this way, particularly when they leave the potato skin on them...that's how you know they're REAL.My dining companion ordered the Veggie "Impossible" Burger and condiments (lettuce, tomato, onions and mayonnaise), which made the perfect combination of creamy, crunchy, cool and tart. Few places do vegetarian food that well. The cashier and the chef were pleasant and helpful, which is an exception in today's world, certainly not the rule. After we placed our order and paid, the food was ready just a few moments after we got our drinks and sat down. So the service, even though there's no wait staff, was excellent. The dining/customer seating area was clean and well lit.Bottom line, we shall be repeat customers and look forward to dining at Max's Dawg House with pleasant anticipation!Vegetarian options: The "Impossible" burger was great!

Quite frankly, I only come in when I have no other option. The food is pretty mediocre for the prices . I feel like they reuse the oil a little too much u can taste it .

Perfect Chicago hotdog ... great dog, fresh sesame seed bun, celery salt, hot peppers, sliced tomatoes, mustard, green relish. And lots of freshly cut fries.
Great food, made me ponder on what exactly the Yorkshire terrier was currently acting

I have only been in once, and I only ordered French fries, which are fresh cut. The portion was very nice, and plenty . The taste... some of the best that I've had in a long time. Nice employees that seem to be happy ( that's a plus ). Atmosphere is that of a typical Chicagoland dog spot at lunchtime, just a lot of people enjoying a good lunch. I will definitely be back for some lunch. This place also has a daily special.Kid-friendliness: ... it's a hot dog joint.

Went here for a quick lunch during work. Got the jumbo dog and cheese fries. Great spot with a special feel to it. Simple but done right - 5/5.
