Truly excellent, but unfortunately closed for good. Building sold, under construction for a different restaurant.

This has become our "special" place. An intimate restaurant that still carries a dress code in this "anything is acceptable world" is a true treat. Everything works together to provide a wonderful experience. Part of me would like to keep it a secret, but I only wish the best for the chef and staff. Incredible seasonal menus to enjoy!Reservations are required and also a deposit.Parking: Parking is located in several areas. It can be a little tricky to find an open spot so be ready to walk a couple of blocks.

This was the worst experience of visiting this superb restaurant as compared to our prior dinners here.Food was just ok. For starters, Lobster Bisque was awful...I wonder if the chef even tasted the soup that looked and tasted like dishwater.Good luck trying to understand some of the wait staff. I'm bilingual and had a tough time understanding.I did get a cup for my coffee, but it never came until I asked for it.Was quite chilly in there. Few women had draped their jackets over their shoulders.ITEMIZED receipt? I understand it's a base course price, but what about the bottle of wine and our cocktails? How much were they?Valet parking is offered. However, it's a block away, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!Waaay to many fine dining restaurants to experience...just my opinion!Agatha

Quirky place, where people are standing on the sidewalk waiting to be let in. Attentive service. Attention to detail. Excellent food! My problem was that my eyes were bigger than my stomach!! Had the 5 course and couldn't finish it. Would almost want smaller appetizers. I know that's crazy talk. But I was so excited by the menu, that i wished I could sample more of it. I

For a place to have such an exquisite menu and a formidable wait this was a huge disappointment. The way we were served was below standard even for a dive bar with only a single bartender on staff….. the food was great until it wasn’t…. I say these regarding the (hard as raw potatoes) “Avacodo” we were served for a dish. Then to add to the unfortunate chain of events the meal they replaced hers with was a “veil based meal” after she plainly said ,”she doesn’t eat meat of that standard” my date was then almost sliced open by a broken water glass…. At that point I was done and when they brought the check it was still over charged and the wait staff was laughing as we left….. please listen to me when I say this is not a place worth the price nor the food. The only reason why it’s not a single star is a buss person by the name of Evelyne (hopefully spelled correctly) who was great at her job.

The attention to service, cuisine and overall loveliness is not to be missed. It truly is one of my favorite dining experiences.

Ended up doing 4 courses and only one meal really stood out. The chowder/stew was the winning dish out of all the ones we got. If you get desert make sure you get the heated/spicy strawberries. It was a unique dinning experience and trying to guess what three ingredients made up the mystery drink was really fun! It was a little strange that they didn’t have a drink menu and unfortunately the drinks that they made weren’t that good. Maybe it was an off night but don’t think I’ll be trying again especially do to the price

This place takes me back to another time in fine dining. The space is quite small with maybe 8 or 9 tables in the space. I was in a sport coat and slacks and my wife was in a nice blouse and skirt, though it looks like you may be able to get away with a nice collared shirt and jeans. The meal started with a small amuse-buche from the chef that was a delicious and unexpected combination of flavors. They also offered us the chance to guess at the ingredients which was kind of fun. We started with an Assortment plate of Lobster Lasagna, which was incredible. Not a typical meat and red sauce affair, the flavors were delicate and the sauce over it is almost a bechamel of some sort. Next was a deviled egg that was a great combination of a rich parmesan deviled egg center that was nearly the consistency of a whipped pate. It was topped with a sweet cream that was close to whipped cream but not as sweet and more dense. the star here though was the Smoked Salmon Gnocchi. These were easily my favorite thing I ate all night, but SO rich with the whole pieces of smoked salmon and butter sauce that the 3 or 4 we each got were perfect. The only thing that let me down slightly on the plate was the Crab Beignet. On it's own it would be good, but it was a bit oily and when compared to the other incredible flavors on the plate was just my least favorite. For an entre I had the Guittara Pasta and it lived up to the promise of the appetizer. The noodles were tender and clearly fresh and the sauce mixed with the yolk from the poached egg and cheese coated everything in a flavor I can still remember writing this. We finished the night with the Chocolate Souffle. This is simply something that I can not find in restaurants any more as a menu staple and greatly miss. It was everything it was supposed to be, light fluffy piping hot and decadent as can be. All in all an amazing throwback to a finer and more thoughtful time in fine dining and food. Easily worth the drive from Chicago, we will be back.

I’ve been to many fine dining restaurants before but this place was by far the WORST. Nothing that we ordered stood out as a remarkable dish, but more along the lines of something I could have easily made myself better or ordered at a much cheaper restaurant with more flavor. I try to eat the food, whether it is my favorite preparation or not…but I had to actually send something back. I never do that. The meal lacked salt or pepper or ANY flavoring at all and was so underwhelming. Do not waste your money.

This was a hidden gem in the suburbs. They have a great tasting menu (you choose the courses) and exceptional service. Free parking in the lot close by as well as street parking. We did the 7 course tasting which was excellent. However, a 5 course tasting is more than enough food. Honestly, each course was delicious but i thought the crisp shrimp was just ok. Highly recommend a drive over here, definitely on par with the Michelin star restaurants in Chicago but not overpriced.

My friend has been talking about this place forever and a day. We finally went last night. Had a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. The menu/concept is quite unique. Any menu item (except desserts of course) can be an appetizer size or a main dish size. You can select items from the menu like any other restaurant; have a 3 or 4 course tasting or you can do a 7 course chef directed tasting as long as all parties at the table select that. Always being a duo that goes big or goes home we went with the 7 course chef directed tasting and said we were okay with upcharged items. FOLKS! What a delight. From the first slice of bread to the last bite of the multi item dessert selection we were wow'ed. Everything was delightful, different, fresh, wonderfully seasoned and fantastically plated. I cannot pick my favorite course. Full disclosure: This was a major splurge and one that most folks couldn't do on a weekly basis, but talk about bang for your buck. We were both really pleased with the entire experience. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful and the gentleman who delivers the dishes and explains them does a great job. I would definitely recommend this place for anybody--with the options of selecting what works for your appetite and budget you cannot go wrong.

We haven't dined at Tallgrass in years and I was so happy to be back again. This is an upscale fine dining restaurant. With only 8 tables, it's intimate and romantic. We came to The Green Dinner on St Patrick's Day. It was a fabulous multi-course dinner. We started with cocktails, an old fashioned and a paloma. My husband and I were underwhelmed with them. The server was making cocktails so...not really a mixologist crafting good cocktails. However, their wine list is very good and we switched to wine. To start, we had a small Gruyère tart with a shot glass of a cold soup that the patrons were asked to guess the three ingredients. I guessed carrot, apple & leek. So far off...cauliflower, carrot and grape. It was a fun element to the dinner. Courses... SMOKED SALMON TARTARE CRISP POLENTA, SCALLION EMULSION * SPINACH GNOCCHI, PECORINO SAGE BROWN BUTTER (amazing...my favorite!!!) * ASPARAGUS, AVOCADO, ENDIVE, ARRUGULA GREEN GODDESS * SPRING CAPON BREAST, MUSHROOM PESTO WATERCRESS SAUCE * FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE GATEAU CHOCOLATE CRUNCH, MINT ANGLAISE (They should have served this in another vessel as I lost so much of the crunch falling on the table) * Then we were brought a little dessert shot of a whipped cream and cherry. Nice surprise! Everything was delicious and the service top notch. We will definitely be back to enjoy Chef Burcenski's creative and innovative cuisine from his ever-changing menu.
